wisp said he scrapped the shimmering hour lp because he was
getting tired of doing drillnbass and that katabatic would
be more nature sounds or something like that

offline jules from United States on 2008-11-10 18:59 [#02251556]

well that sounds good. drillnbass is boring

its the equivalent of being a striker who scores 30 goals a
season, then getting signed to man utd and saying,'nah
actually I think I want to go in nets'

that shimmering album was to afx what tycho is to boc... i
cant avoid to love the samples tho. but i think its good he
decided to release something different and more personal. i
hope it will be released anyway someday

offline melack from barcielwave on 2008-11-11 04:26 [#02251580]

well, not really that afxish really, just some tunes

He actually said he was recording whale sounds, so I guess
it was a joke.

TSH preview on the website is great. I don't think he
deserves to be the Tycho of AFX. Because Tycho is mongo, and
Wisp is a talented musician.

offline melack from barcielwave on 2008-11-11 04:39 [#02251582]
Points: 9099 Status: Regular

well, i never listened to tycho, more than a couple of
samples of his last album, and, even if i didnt like them
too much, they sounded pretty good produced...

whats happening to rephlex, anyway? long months without a
release, and now just a limited 12"... its the crisis or
just comertial strategy or what

You can get more of an idea from here. Respect to erns.
Bootleg wisp mp3 September 2008

i've got a handful of old unreleased tunes, one of which is
on the album sampler on his myspace (although, the song
sounds really redone and gets acid-y).
the whole whale recording thing is silly bollocks. i think
its just wisp having a laugh with his watmm buddies. you
can't just release on an album on rephlex, only the most
mysterious and un-internet friendly electronic music label
there is, all while keeping fans up to date on a forum. i'm
preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty sure the album's still coming
out.

nature sounds? neat.. where one can find a preview? those
who are not buddies would like to try before buy, and that
bootleg is appreciated but about the drillbass side of the
moon if i remember correct. and now pigster says that the
whales noises releases was a joke, but wisp said he was
working on it into another thread. it would be quite
disappointing if so, i was really curious about that. is
this confusion part of the business or we can avoid and try
to appreciate the music maker rather that the internet
gossip? or, whateva.

just been listening to the samples on boomkat, one of the
better releases out at the moment but embarrassingly like
AFX.

OK I actually heard the full thing and i retract my previous
statement about sounding 100% like AFX. It's more like 89%
ripoff. I like the tracks!

i don't think richard would have sigfned it if he had
thought that. haven't a load of people been waiting for new
aphex/squarepusher/bogdan type vibes all the time since
forever, well here they are... I am well stoked :)

After much listening I think it rocks.
Even though it is a bit downbeat for the wisp.
I think it must be the cornish chill pills.

Wow, with all this faint praise I really must order this
half baked turd now. It doesn't matter if it isn't any good,
because we all know every painful step it took to get this
far and we all feel his ginger pain.

Why does it list the sides of the vinyl as 'Side C' and
'Side D'?

Is this the guy who made 'The Bard'? I ended up with that
tune from someplace. Maybe Bleep.com
