I've visited there twice and it seemed very crowded and cold. Big clocks everywhere. I was at a museum with my class (this was probably 10 years ago) and in the cafeteria I purchased a beverage- when I was done with it, I noticed there was a small dead beetle or some such insect at the bottom of the glass.
Also it seems like many people there have perpetually bad attitudes about life. (everything is "bollocks" you "bell end" etc)

It can be absolutely fantastic and utterly dispicable in equal measure. We're surrounded with thousands of years of culture and history, but people are just in too much of a rush to even notice it anymore. English youths are amongst the most unpleasent cunts in the world I reckon, but as always, you'll find good people amongst them too. I think a lot of foreign travellers expect the British to be uptight, stiff-upper-lip style stereotypes until they have their first experience with the british underclass (read: chavs)
It is a unique place.

I agree English youth doesn't have any respect for anything.
I think the fact that we complain all the time, while people from another country will just think we are just ungrateful, is good as it means we are always challenging and prompting improvement. Not to say that it makes much of a difference, but it is better than just letting everything slide, which would give govt. more room to do whatever the fuck it likes, without its poeple in mind at all.
I think the fact that we complain is something to be proud of- it conveys out tenacity.
NB: I am not a patriot.

I think so. My parents live there, I lived there and it's friggin great. Don't believe the stereotypes. Obviously some fall true, but I spent a year working and living with the British working class and they're not all chavs. I met some really top people and had great times. Lincolnshire is a bit of a shithole though.

That England is as full of chavs as toffee-nosed upper-classed people is equally false. Sure, British kids get a bad rap, but they're not all bad.
It's only the poor that are chavvy, because they bought they're chains, cars and awful designer clothes on cheap credit offered by banks. Maybe they'll go back to being skint now the banks are skint.
London is the most multi-cultural place on the planet, which can only be a good thing, the countryside is beautiful. In between, there's just some rather horrible towns and parts of cities that you wouldn't want to be seen dead in.

Yes it's very expensive, and I'm sure there's alot of nicer places to live in mainland Europe. France, Italy, Spain etc. Without the multi-cultural aspect London wouldn't be so great, as English people don't have a lot of class.

unluckily i've been there only once, when i still was one of those mindless party people all clubs n drugs so i can't say. but one thing i made for sure, it's a magical place for the reason you told. every place has pros and cons, and while you can feel the different people's energy walking around the streets, you can also feel that the city is not very nice with those people somehow.

i mean foreign kids are so much better educated. i went out with a woman from ukraine, and her daughter was so bright and intelligent for her age. she eventually came over and went to school in wales and immediately found the classes too easy for her. she spoke english better than they did.
unfortunately, in ukraine the men are all drunks and their shallow capitalism is completely corrupt, so if you wanna make something of yourself or want your children to fulfil their potential - best to leave.
but of course, London is the best model. because integration breaks down prejudice. so within the human value system that's the way forward.

yeah sometimes well being is inversely proportional to well education, but sometimes is the opposite sooo i think the main thing is how much those who rule care about the people and the way they live, like every part of the world. an accetable model of integration is amsterdam i'd say, london tastes more of closed communities as far as i could see.

Some bits are really good, others aren't. I guess it's what you make of it. London's not some sort of utopia though, things are just amplified. Good things are great and bad things are awful. If you can cope with the weather, the sense of humour and the bizarre things we do, you'll love it I'm sure.

It's older than that and the crap that they left is still there.
I bet when some guy thought, 'I know, why dont we get some really big rocks and stand them up in a circle?' He didn't expect them to be still there four and a half thousand years later.
Don't get me started with the bloody Eygyptians!
