What do you think of Bogdan Raczynski?

He has an interesting past, living homeless in Japan for a
while and continuing to make music at the same time, which
comes through in albums like My Love I Love.

His ouvre is so messy though, that I can't into his music.

Any Raczynski fans wanna suggest which album to start with?

samurai math beats and ALRIGHT! are my faves. i love his
demented style. but i've always been pretty attracted to the
unconventional, so who knows if these are good to start with
if you're not that into his sound already.

i love his music. the albums hedphukkerr gave are tops, and
i might also reccommend boku mo wakaran as another good
place to begin.

i LOVE his music, the first time i heard it i was blown
away, it was so fresh, nostalgic, hectic, happy, sad, funny
and sweet all at once. Thinking Of You, is a big go go.

Alright! is coming up a lot- I have to be in the right mood
for listening to it, though. It is sorta more like the kinda
music that would be god live, when you're in that kinda
mood, rather than something to listen to at, well, any other
time I think. It is not a sit-
down-and-concentrate-on-the-complexity-of kinda music, like
Squarepusher. I understand it's not at all simple, it's just
that the presentation (for obvious reasons) is not as
cleancut as SP.

Sorry for picking BR apart, but that's what my stance is
atm. Hopefully it will change with more listens, though.

I totally agree with Fah, though- it is very human music-
evokes a crazy range of emotions.

HAHAHA!

Awesome.

Think I respect Squarepusher a bit more from a technical
point of view than Raczynski, but I see why he's earned a
special place in the hearts of everyone at Xltronic- he has
a very DIY feel about his stuff.

But that was a cool story. Not sure if I believe it... where
did you hear 'My Red Hot Car' for the first time?

awesome hearing him mix familiar tracks live. during
performance he kept picking up and dropping mixers, the
music turned off several times while he was doing this. one
of my favorite parts was when he let a track play while he
lay on a couch on stage.

well, about the technical point of view, bogdan's music, as
well as any other music, is technical and 'complex' in their
own individual way... i mean come on, Bog has done things
with trackers that no other tracker musician has ever dared
to do around that time. He does things that Squarepusher
can't do, and that's making so much with so little
ingredients.

Yeah- Bogdan is impressive given his limitations. That's why
I said he is DIY. And this is good thing. It adds to his
style.

But surely Jenkinson has acheived more, though he has much,
much more at his disposal?

You are probably right, but, since I am new to Raczynski,
which tracks does he show he can do more than Squarepusher
on?

let me lay it out for you.

bogdan is liked by artists

tom is liked by potheads

theres plenty of people who fall into both categories,
but some of you know what i mean.

glad fah mentioned that tracker shit before i had to. i'm a
big fan of tight , controlled compositions. even bogdan's
old stuff is incredible. but with tom before he had that
come on my selector album, everything he made just sounded
like lame dnb with washly bassline that were supposed to be
amazing

I can most certainly see where yoo're coming from Fah, and
bit bare, but I still disagree.

Just because Squarepusher is mainstream doesn't mean you
have to hate him.

I have nothing bad to say about your sentiments and
opinions, I can see exactly what you mean. I guess
Squarepusher is pretty odorless, cleancut music. But I don't
think he did this to appeal to a certain market, or make as
mcuh money as possible. It's just his style. Therefore I
don't have any contempt for SP.

of their music, they both have their own individual
