I never thought the day would happen, but I had a look at other mp3 players and found the iRiver clix 2, its a year old but it has a much better screen, sound quality and user interface than even the latest nano...
you know in asia the ipod is something like 16th in the best selling mp3 players? maybe the know something we don't.
i've had ipods since the very first one, this is the first time i've ever touched a different make, had to re-encode all my aac files though which was a pain in the arse!

I-Pods are shit, no question. Everyone knows they are designed to break after one year, just after the warranty finishes.
Try I-River like you said, or Cowon if you have the cash.

Ineeed, indeed!
I used to think Mac shit was cool- oh, how naive was I...
They are overly priced- I don't know why people buy them, and nor do they. Just because they are fashionable or something. They are good for design apps and such. And they are easy to customise though.

cmon it's not all shit, there are other reason why people buy macs other than the ipod fashion. more than the fashion thing i don't get why people mystify macs like they were saint computers, they're just machines, they break and have their tricks like every other one don't cha think

c'mon, that whole thing about ipods breaking after the 1 year warranty is up is such a thing of the past. i've had mine for two years now and that thing has taken a fucking beating and shows no signs of giving up anytime soon. and i have heard of one friend out of many ipod owners who has had any trouble in the last few years.

Perhaps youre right, but I still don't like them. Those could just be exceptions to the rule.
The fact that you can only play the weird IPod format (M4A?) is silly, too. Just a way for Apple to control what their customers can do with their products.

what are you talking about? all of my music is in mp3 format and the ipod plays it just fine, fuck proprietary.
and that would be a hell of a lot of exceptions considering i went to college in the us (read: EVERYONE has an ipod).
as a matter of fact, the only person i know who has had an mp3 player fail on them didn't have an ipod. so he bought one.
also if you don't like the ipod software, you can always get rockbox on it.

Yeah- a lot of people convert all their music to iTunes, though. I donn't see the point, it is like the equivelant of 192KBPS.
Also, it is not good that iPod control the market- it means they can monopolise it, make shit products that everyone still buys and profit from it all.
iPhones look pretty frickin awesome, though. That's the exception to the rule, I guess.

hold on, so you just called apple's whole product line shit, then said the most unnecessary, bloated piece of hardware they sell is the exception? ha!
seriously, the iphone blows in comparison to smart phones in the same (and lower) price range.

It depends what you want to do with your 'smart phone'.
It may be be less powerful than, say, a Blackberry. But it more customisable, which is, in a rare moment for Apple, cool.

Oh, sorry. My bad.
What is the equivelant quality then?
And maybe not everyone converts their music to iTunes. Not people on here, but still a lot of people I wouldn't doubt.

i highly doubt anyone who doesn't know enough not to use aac/m4a format knows enough how to convert their mp3s in the first place. the only way itunes will do this automatically is when importing from a cd, but that is hardly the way people get their music nowadays.
and it has actually been shown that the apple formats have a better size/quality ratio than mp3s. you can set the bit rate for it just like any other audio format.

1) The iPod range is the best range of MP3 players on the market.
2) The iPhone is the best consumer smartphone on the market. The thing is a joy to use and I've owned a lot of smart phones.
There is no doubt that I am right because I always am, so just accept my words above as fact and move on with your lives.
