If you like movies with minimal plot, then you're going to love this! "Goodbye, Dragon Inn" by Cantonese director Tsai Ming-liang is an "Ambient Doozy" and/or a "Depressive Blanket". It's definitely my favorite flick of recent times, and one I have watched over and over.
Here's a link so you can buy it: LAZY_TITLE
[Note: Must watch late at night!]

can a film be more boring? but i cant deny it has something special... i saw it in big screen with music composed by two local electronic musicians arbol & fibla. it was nice and boring.

I like the title, and I like that it has an ambient soundtrack. I'll have to look into this.

melack: Yeah, it's definitely a movie you have to be in the mood for. A movie about watching people watch movies in public spaces that is best watched alone and at home.
Zephyr Twin: No ambient music, but plenty of ambiance. Projector clicks, labored footsteps, leaky roofs, and the sounds of snacking spectators keep a steady, hypnotic beat. There's a pretty decent torrent floating around, if you want to give it a try.
And when I said Cantonese, I meant Taiwanese. The director's from Malaysia but all his films, except the last one, were shot in Taipei Town.

It's cool, m'man! I should have specified that the ambient kicks are almost purely visual. If long static shots aren't your thing, no matter how perfectly composed, then you'll probably bored to bits. "Goodbye, Dragon Inn" is a ramped-up concentration of all the Tsai Ming-liang stylistic ticks I love, recommending it would be a bit like handing "Inland Empire" to someone who's never seen a Lynch. His cinematographer is also top notch, as you will soon see!
Here's the trailer for the newest one, "Don't Want to Sleep Alone". Now this one I was a bit bored by, but I was also very sleepy at the time. Highlights? There are a couple epically calm and empty shots that just stay with you, and any movie where a sister is forced to jack off her brother can't be that dull!
"Wayward Cloud" and the Watermelon Fuck Some of cinema's most graphic sex start slopping after this bittersweet opening, filmed with such a clinical eye that they become even more vulgar and funny. The colors! Oh, the colors! If you can make it through it all, the finale will literally "blow" you away. Oh, and there are plenty of wacky sing songs to be had also, such as this!
Music from "The Hole".
The Skywalk is Gone in Spanish
On second thought, "What Time is It There?" and "The River" might make the best starting points, not that anyone cares. They're the most traditionally structured, but still have that slow motion magic that I am always blabbering on about. Why don't you see them all? I, for one, have to take a dump now. So let's say we wait a few minutes before I SEE YOU AT THE MOVIES!
