yeah, I haven't used reason for years, but I think you can right click a knob and do learn midi or something like that. They you twiddle the knob. It might have been reaktor? There is a way to do it in reason, I would say look on the right click menu over on a knob, sorry can't be of more help. Gave up computer music because it zapped my ideas v.quickly, I'm a MPC man now and loving it.

reason is quite flexible in that respect, what version do you use?

i can't stand midi, or maybe i just never learned it. i prefer just playing it and then chopping and looping it.

yeah you can definitely do it with version 3, but it may or may not work on your specific midi controller. It was a bit finicky on my roland jp-8000, but worked for the most part.

Reason is very solid with midi, only problem being to attach more than one parameter to the same knob you need a third party application.
Reason and midi have been <3 since v1

The thing is, midi is simple and used everywhere, but if you don't know what you are doing then you are going to miss a step. Its not a matter of learning it so much as a matter of getting used to it.

you can program the combinator to control multiple parimiters of multiple devices and then assign that to midi quite easily.

Ah. Good point. Still, I like the ability to quickly assign parameters on the fly. Having to assign then do patches puts an extra step making the workflow a little more cumbersome than I would like.

It really depends. I find it takes a little while to figure out what would be most conducive to your workflow. I know the bitstream 3x pretty well. Its got a lot of robust features, however the arpegiator and LFO's are dodgy. The knob and slider layout is great.
