Cnn.com is completely spinning the story to make it look
like Russia is the bad guy. Why did Georgian troops attack
Russia in the first place ?

this is just terrible.
i just saw a 15 min. interview with the georgian
president on cnn. very disturbing. im so glad im not
russias neighbour. russia even makes fun of the georgian
president claiming he was the aggressor.
they attacked georgias internet and telecommunications,
formed their army and attacked mainly civilians.
is there a way out of this bloody mess?

russia says georgia attacked first, and georgia says russia
were on their territory with apc's first and THEN they
attacked.

Weird.. i dont think georgia would attack like that, the
president obviously knew his country could get ruined.

my question is, will the us or anyone else intervene and
help georgia, and will such an action cause russia to attack
other countries?

i'm not defending Russia's reaction, just getting pissed off
lately with western bias news coverage which seems to be
getting worse and worse.

There is no doubt who started it, Georgia sent troops into a
region full of Russian nationals to try and force
integration into Georgia on the day of the Olympics,
coincidence? Russia reacted in a typical Russian way by
sending their own troops in escalating it to war.

Britain reacted in a similar way when the Falkland islands
were attacked. No country likes looking weak, and that was a
lot further away than South Ossetia.

That Georgian PM is a slimey bugger, i've seen him on the
news and you can tell he's trying so hard to make it out
that they have been attacked and get western support.

pretty ballsy on Bush's part considering how he did things

seems Saakaschwili had not much of a choice when to attack,
Georgia had stocked up on arms in recent months and an
escalation was on its way anyway... at least surprise effect
was on his side last Friday. They've seen a Russian counter
attack coming... tahnks to their western military analysts.
Now it's either:

- Georgia wins (keeps South Ossetia and Abchasia, likely
with many people killed). it's a possibility, as the
Georgian people is motivated, their army has modern weapons
+ excellent western training (they definitely use very
civilian-unfriendly gear such as MLRS though), and Russia
can't stay there forever: they're the bad guys in terms of
international law. The initial attack might appear very
stupid but if Saakaschwili wins, he be hero, reelected. +
rehabilitation is good for the country.

- Georgia loses: South Ossetia and Abchasia gain
independence or some kind of pseudo independence... Russia
has no reason to back off as for now. They could easily
devastate Georgia if they needed to. Karma minus two. so
what? everyone sees them as the bad guys anyway. (But war is
expensive, and they don't really gain anything maximum
important through this skirmish, or do they, dunno.)

UN won't do anything imo except keep telling them to stop,
as always. imo unlikely to escalate into Cold War II or WW
III or something...

So let's hope not too many people die in this and keep
smiling and eat fatty food.

IMO

it's very simple.

Ever since american imperial strategies have shown the world
that
a) one state (them) can initiate regime change in another
through force(germany, japan, east timor, afghanistan, iraq,
)

b) that "anti-terrorism measures" is an effective carte
blanche
to deply force anywhere for vague reasons

...The other world power, russia, has simply followed suit.
all it needs to do is set a trap for an upstart break away
republic to annoy them and they siimply roll in, destroy all
opposition and claim that they now need permanent military
bases there to "stabilise" the region. Where have we seen
this before?

So Georgia fell for this big time...... but i blame russia
for cleverly getting them to act on the mis-judged
assumption the west supported them. Now they OWN georgia and
will absorb it back into it along with the piplines they
were loosing to Nato. Meanwhile the west can't do shit
because it's done the same in the middle east. Every
defence analyst KNEW this would happen in the Caucasas.....
all you need is a map and a history lesson to figure that
one out.

The chess game continues.

Cheney threatens Russia

US Soldiers killing innocent civilians

"A prime example of media bias in shielding Georgia from responsibility for t... is the fact that news
outlets like the BBC continue to report that 1500 civilians
have been killed in Georgia, with the obvious inference
being that these are victims of the Russian onslaught. But
these victims were not killed in Georgia, they were killed
in Ossetia - by Georgian forces."

“Georgia does not act militarily without the assent of
Washington. The Georgian head of State is a US proxy and
Georgia is a de facto US protectorate.”
Michel Chossudovsky

if you take a look at the US' occupation of their military
in Iraq and Afghanistan... also the fact that they don't
really have proper strategic access in that region... but
most importantly the current and ongoing maximum failure of
their economics... - you'll notice that Chossudovski's
conspiracy theories are ridiculous. The US are not in a
position to "confront Russia". More likely we'll see
revolting, hungry Anglo-Americans in Anglo-America real soon
:D
