it's just come out, in true radiohead form (pay what you
want for the mp3s, or pay a set price for the physical album
and flac files)

im only 2 tracks in an already had three or four "omg this
song?!?" moments, including boy/girl song. this album is
gonna be fuckin spectacular, exactly what the beginning of
the summer needed!!

Nice. Going to a Girl Talk concert in august. Anyone seen
him live?

no but i've heard he fuckin destroys. lets everyone dance up
on stage around him, frequent accidental unpluggings of his
laptop, and spontaneous stripping.

find the "girl talk murders seattle"/"chop suey" live set on
the net (theyre the same recording) for a good taste of his
live show.

is everyone still hooked on that 'song-mashup' phase?

are the computers doing all of the work for them?

yeah, this is definitely the first album of his which hasn't
shown a significant change in his sound, although he teases
the listener a lot more with those one bar or less clips of
real popular tracks.

still, he manages to keep the energy up and plays some great
tracks so it's all worthwhile. but next album i feel like
he's going to have to do something less hip-hop for his
style to keep from getting stale.

or he goes completely into gimmick territory by
incorporating ad jingles or showtunes or something. Mr
Belvedere, anyone?

decent fun time, btw.

Haha it was a good listen. 9/10. I downloaded his first
album a while back but I haven't ever really listened to
it.

I hope a full tracklisting gets posted up eventually, I
think he did that with Night Ripper. There's quite a few
songs in there I've always wanted but never knew what they
were.

most of the songs from night ripper are listed in the wiki
article, but he's never released it himself officially.

his first album, secret diary, is insanely glitchy, one of
those albums where you really can't tell if the cd is
scratched/mp3 is corrupt at all. really hard to tell
individual songs, it's a bit messy. very obvious he's doing
it in msp.

the second, unstoppable, is more between secret diary and
night ripper, with some lovely 8 bit bits. technically i
think it's his most interesting album, he's got a lot of
intricate cut ups laid out on it.

the same formula as before, but it works. such an incredibly
fun album, with the tracks mixed extremely well. i love it.

Actually no, not at all... I was sold the moment I heard him
drop James Taylor a few years back.

Anyways, this album was much needed and I find myself
reacting to it very nicely.

agreed :D

and i just realized how the album title works. it really is
just a crowd-pleaser album. feeding the masses so to speak.

lol I really didn't know he had produced more than two
albums.
And btw, I think I might have been getting confused with a
list of artists in the album sleeve..?

thats true, he did list every artist he samples in the
sleeve of night ripper, but it's just the artists.

pretty interesting to look through the wiki article tho. the
most disappointing part was when i learned that the awesome
synth guitar riff leading into the "shake that laffy taffy!"
section was written by gillis himself, so we will never have
a simpler version of that to sample.

I've seen him live. He keeps a beat going then just drops
licks from popular songs over it. Always has plenty of
ladies on stage.
Cunt.

i'm not a huge fan of dj cd's, but i like it. hate him or
love him, girl talk is talented. listening to night ripper
or feed the animals is one big nostalgic ride.... not a huge
fan of all of the ringtone rap he mixes in, but with other
samples mixed in, it sounds sick.

it's alright so far,

on track 9, he just mixed in velvet underground, which is a
bit blasphemous, as is the mix of bohemian rhapsody, but oh
well

now we're into that shit dance track that was popular back
in 1999, OOOH BABY, THE MUSIC FEELS BETTAH WITH YOUUUU, god
that was a terrible song

It's great on headphones but on my stereo it just got a bit
too much. He is playing in Vancouver soon and I am tempted
to see him, has anyone here seen him? would you recomend?
Keep in mind I am in Vancouver so the atmosphere wont be
anything close to electric!
