i like it less than mhrtc, but i must admit that if it was
released by more anonymous pair of bedroom producers, people
would coo and purr over it. it just had titanic expectations
invested in it.

i agree with 'happy cycling'. i'd say it's not up to BOC's
best, but if it was released by an unknown band it would be
raved about.

in fact, i'd go one step further, and (controversially)
state that if Aphex had released Geogaddi instead of the
collection of tuneless snares and clicks that is Drukqs,
everyone wouldv'e gone on about how great it was and how
much genius was in the music.

i don't know why Rephlex thought Warp were ecplising Global
Goon's album with hype. if anything there's a lack of info
about BOC releases. maybe Global Goon's album was eclipsed
because it was simply not very memorable.

Although not a follower of hseroK divaD, she's a devoted
Branch Davidian.

Still one of the best damn Boards of Canada songs.

Also Gyroscope.

'kara' was obviously someone with a personal issue about all
this

warp weren't eclipsing vatican nitez on purpose off course,
the problem was that because of the hype no one was
interested in vatican nitez and it didn't got the reception
it could have...

has stated before in this thread, if it was really the best
album to buy that year it would have sold itself out all
alone, BoC was already in everyone mouth at the time, they
didn't need all that hype IMO.

"aphex hates geogaddy" - that's rubbish. he tried to sign
Boards to Rephlex, but Warp got there first.

i really like b.o.c : music has... & beautiful place ep are
great records, but thinks geogaddi is pretty well produced
but also boring, too long: i can't listen 2 the whole thing
while vatican nitez never leaves my cd player

that probably just goes to show that some Boards material
has set such a high standard that some of the rest of it
doesn't live up to it! but as someone said above, if it was
released by some other unkown band it would get loads of
credit. i agree that BOC Maxima is brilliant.

music70 is run by them, so all their stuff is co-licensed to
warp.

i liked geogaddi a lot, personally. i think BoC are a bit
overhyped, but that's only because i don't think a lot of
people will 'get' their music. i 'get' it, and i don't think
i've heard anything from them that i've disliked.
