I'm telling you, Classics is near the bottom of the fucking
list. RDJ actually got on there!!!

Lost of crap albums on there, Rollingstone is a retarded
little outfit...

but why classics? You'd think something like SAW85-92... ah
well, I'm not gonna try to understand Rollingstone...

Yeah, I know... Classics isn't his coolest... I'd think it
would be the sleek and sexy RDJ Album... Rollingstone makes
no sense. Rambling kings of gibberish.

Joy Division's "Unknown Pleasures" is #24. I still hate
Rolling Stone but that's a pretty cool thing.

Classics's got the classics..all the stuff I used to hear in
the clubs before SAW came out and Aphex became a bit of
celeb..that was the stuff that the dj's prized and guarded
with their lives and was impossible to get a hold of unless
you had a swiss bank account (I was in the states then)...
and thanks to Classics I finally had all the stuff I danced
long nites away to, in my greay little palms..you wont
believe the buzz...down and dirty hardcore underground
shit..luv it..luv it..luv it

who would've thought that rollingstone would one day include
aphex on a top 50 list?! is aphex getting that commercial?
or is rollingtone more openminded? maybe both.

offline TrevorGod from Toronto (Canada) on 2002-03-24 14:27 [#00139098]

I don't know about those being the coolest 50, but most of
'em arn't too bad. Some shoulden't be on there because they
are just too damn new. The Strokes? c'mon at least wait a
year before calling it one of the coolest albums (unless of
course it's a 'coolest albums of the year' list.)

offline Jarworski from The Grove (United Kingdom) on 2002-03-24 14:29 [#00139101]

Wtf is 'cool' about an album? Why are all these albums
'cool'? Who decided that this is 'cool', and these albums
fall under it? And why is there no Rick Astley in there?????

I just went through the new issue, and that list. This just
re-assures my choice to not renew my subscription to Rolling
Stone when this one runs out.

BOOYA! I own twelve of these albums.

I am only 24% cool! I demand a recount!

offline Ubik from United States on 2002-03-25 01:13 [#00140397]
Points: 662 Status: Lurker

this list is just name-dropping... to show how "cool" they
are, which isn't very cool!

Classics is not a very good choice for coolest Aphex, they
probably have just heard of Digeradoo, and Joy division's
Closer is better than Unknown Pleasures... VU's White
light/White heat was probably easily the most uncommercial
record released at that time, and that is fucking cool, but
their first album has oozing with cool too, and lots of
better songs...

have you seen the lists that Spin have been putting out,
seems like every other month, they had a most current
"essential" list this month ... lists probably sell
magazines, but this is getting silly on both magazines part.
and silly is probably too nice a word...
