ha ha, thats really crappy reasoning.. by that standard we could start eating babies..

I think that somewhere in South America, in some extremely poor country with eager to please servants, there's an exclusive club where leftist nazis go to unwind. There you'll find Noam Chomsky smoking a Cuban, drinking a snifter of brandy and ogling strippers. Look, there's David Suzuki and Jeremy Rifkin huffing glue and playing chess on a new ivory board. Then Ralph Nader comes in wearing an apron that says "Kiss the Chef" and carrying a platter of huge raw-bloody steaks, and they all drop what they're doing and converge on dinner.... they are all wearing Nikes...
Vegetarians are zealots. They don't think; they mouth slogans. All their thinking is done for them and distributed in convenient pamphlet form.
That is why I feel it is alright to eat them. That and because their diet makes them docile and easy to whack.

oh no, I spoke my own mind about not being a vegetarian! How dare I! truly that is just such a horrible thing for me to do, what was I thinking? I guess I'll just go adapt to your beliefs and follow the crowd (hey, I am a Conformist and all!) because it's just not hip to have a differing opinion these days. I eat meat, but ye, I have seen the light! Meat is murder!... and goddamn it tastes good.

humans feel pain and fear, they also are a lot more capable of chomping on some grass and being photographed for pink floyd album covers

There's this great book by Nietzsche called Beyond Good and Evil. Like most Nietzsche, it starts off with a bang then runs downhill with a couple off good bits later on.
Anyhoo, in the good bit at the start he questions the origin of morality and our judgement of what is true, and good, and proper, and comes to the conclusion that it is inextricably intertwined with our survival--that what we perceive as true, indeed our need to seek truth in the first place, is driven by our desire to continue living. Hence truth is rooted in the irrational, and questioning things like this is very dangerous indeed, which is pronbably why he went insane; that and syphilis.

because some vegetarians dont think your saying its ok to eat meat? that makes no sense. sure some vegetarians\vegans dont really have a reason for not eating meat but many of the messages are said or spread around for a reason.

You know machine, you really are a close minded idiot. You want to know why we were meant to eat meat. Okay put your goddamn fingers in your mouth and feel around for these things called 'canines,' yes that's right. You know what those were built for? Yes, that's right. And what about those 'proteins n' fibers' you miss out on. Is it an issue of convenience and I should be eating 20 servings of your faux tofu bullshit instead of a serving of meat to get the same nutrients just because some stupid cow has to die for it?
Next time you see an animal killing another animal beat the shit out of it so it'll be a message to all the other animals like it that eating meat kills you.
Oh and then go read a ton of books about Gandhi, shave your head, make your own fucking clothes so you make sure no animals were hurt in the process and go protest slaughtehouses, faggot.

hrm.. looks like im getting in a tad late on this one, but here goes:
I'm vegetarian... almost. I still eat fish and eggs. The eggs come from the chickens at my mom and dads house though, so I know they are happy eggs.
Which leads me to my reasoning for my diet.. I'll allow Chris Parker to explain:
Beef What a relief
When will this poisonous products cease?
This is another public service announcement You can believe it or you can doubt it
Let us begin now with the cow the way that it gets to your plate and how
the cow doesn't grow fast enough for man so through his greed he makes a faster plan
he has drugs to make the cow grow quicker through the stress the cow gets sicker
21 different drugs are pumped into the cow in one big lump
So just before it dies, it cries in the slaughterhouse full of germs and flies
of with the head, they pack it, drain it and cart it and there it is in your local supermarket
red and bloody a corpse neatly packed and you wonder about heart attacks?
come on now man let's be for real you are what you eat is the way I feel
but the Food & Drug Administration will tell you meat is the the perfect combination
see cows live under fear and stress tryin' to think what's going to happen next
fear and stress can become a part of you in your cells and blood this is true
so when the cow is killed believe it you preserve those cells you freeze it
thaw it out with the blood and season it then you sit down and begin eatin' it
**in your body its structure becomes your structure all the fear and stress of another**
any drug is addictive by any name even drugs in meat, they are the same
the FDA has America strung out on drugs in beef no doubt
so if you think that what I say is a bunch of crock tell yourself your going to try and stop
eatin' meat and you'll see you can't compete it's the number one drug on the street
not crack, cause that was made for just black but brown beef for all American teeth

life brings life and death brings death keep on eatin' the dead and what's left?
absolute disease and negative read the book How to Eat to Live
by Elijah Mohammed it's a brown paperback for anybody either white or black
see how many cows must be pumped up fatter how many rats gotta fall in the batter how many chickens that eat sh*t you eat how much high blood pressure you get from pig feet
see you'll consume, the FDA could care less
they'll sell you donkey meat and say it's fresh
For 1990, you suckers -----
indeed...

I'm not a vegetarian. I don't eat all that much meat, though. Mainly a hamburger every now and then.
I don't personally see anything wrong w/ eating meat. Humans were designed as omnivores, like someone said up above we have the teeth to prove it. The conditions in most slaughterhouses do bother me, especially after reading Fast Food Nation

just because you have the equipment doesn't mean you have to use it.

i try to eat as little meat as possible for health and because, though i do enjoy it, it's not something i crave. that doesn't really work out though because, like zeus, i live in a dorm and am stuck with a cafeteria meal plan. if i could i'd eat much less meat and only meat that was hunted wild. the condidtions that animals are brought up in are rude and i don't like the fact that they are raised in captivity for the sole purpose of being eaten. seems a bit like raising a slave to me.

okay...my 2cents
was vegetarian for about 4 years reason:got into straight-edge hardcore in mid-90's. most of my friends were either veget/vegan. worked out until I moved away. choose to consume meat again because my budget would make it difficult to eat a diverse veg. diet.
earthleakage-I agree that human-beings are superior to animal-beings but I'm not sure that this is the reason we eat(or should eat) meat. some might say because we are superior that we shouldn't eat it.
martin heidegger-human-being existence superior to other beings existence because we ask about other's being and about our own being. others don't ask about our(human) being.
sorry...just couldn't resist. had an midterm over him today.
New Ethic This is the new ethic. Animals' lives are their own and must be given respect. Reject the anthropocentric falsehood that maintains the oppressive hierarchy of mankind
over the animals. It's time to set them free. Their lives reduced to biomachines in the factory, farm and laboratory. Dairy, eggs and meat, fur, suede, wool, leather are the end products of torture, confinement and murder. I abjure their use out of reverence for all innocent life. Wildlifes' right to live in peace in their natural environment without this civilization's interference can no longer be denied.
Must no longer be denied. To make a civilization worthy of the word civilized the cruelty must end,
starting within or own lives. Reject the anthropocentric falsehood that maintains the oppressive hierarchy
of mankind over the animals. It's time to set them free. Veganism is the essence of compassion and peaceful living. The animals are not ours to abuse or dominate. I abjure their use
out of reverence ... I abjure their use out of reverence ...
I abjure their use out of reverence for all innocent life. machine of god...a little earth crisis for you

Some vegetarians are really holier than thou and thats one thing I want to avoid (whoa!)
also meat is tasty and apparently you can't get a decent vitamin supplement with only pills and mushrooms.
ie a lot of vegetarians are not as healthy as omnivores.
humans are naturally omnivores. we naturally eat both.
the "i have a penis so i should be fuckign everythgin it fits into" statement is a good argument against meat eating.....I have a sort of argument against it but i'm having trouble putting it into words!
sorry!
Vegetarians get no my nerves a bit sometimes though, it's similar to the left wing 1st year uni movement.
highschool girls get all liek "oh no youre killing a cow" etc.
I'm considering being a carnovore just to irritate about 100% of the earth's population.
then i'd eat it all.
