do you think that after this disaster, artists have been
influenced in some way?
do you think that it changed the way of making electronic
music?

no, it happened in 1998 when the american music industry
declared the dropping of every artist who didn't and don't
sell more than 1,000 copies of their album.

that same year britney spears was signed.

I don't think so. There probably a few artists that had
genuine issues to make music from, but it's pretty much been
status quo...

the ole effect i can see is that rappers will be careful
about likening the size of their dicks to one of the two
towers

it only changed chart music somewhat, since it's 'à la
mode' to sing about this. very few have something good to
bring from this imo.

i cant see how it could affect the idm/electronica music
scene though. will artists add extra clinks and snaps to
their tracks?

***************

artists that don't sell 1000 copies are lagging soooo much.
I was in a crappy band that did nothing and we sold over
6000 copies of our first release.
not bragging I think that is very little considering it was
nationwide. but artists that sell less than 1000 copies are
a burdon to the company in my oppinion.

yeah, im sure i could sell at least 500 copies of an album i
made, even if i dont play any instruments, making my
imaginary album utter shit. just some mouth-to-ear
publicity should get me by.

I think that a disaster like that, with its consequences
(afghanistan war, israel/palestina, iraq, usa´s way of
governing the world) must have had influenced in every
artist... maybe its just to soon to notice

1. not much. cassette boy has done a song about the planes
and the building thing.

2. yes definatly. if you also count the US vengance actions,
the bombings of afganistan etc i think they have had major
impact on some artists. maybe not electronic music since its
quite hard to express political views trough electronics,
but definatly some hiphop groups and i bet a lot of rock
bands to.

its hardly gonna change the way electronic music is
made.....

I do like "Suicide's" song on the Wire CD.... very rhythmic,
Lou Reedy and about post 9/11 feelings without being the
usual schmaulchy, white-picket fences, american,
sentimental warm fuzzy shit. It's got a genuine emotion and
just speaks of the shadow over NY.. Apparently they have a
full album on post-9/11 feelings which, if this song is a
good indication, would be a good record of the event
musically........ I personally find the famine/aids epidemic
in Africa more horrifying but thats just me

I saw an interview with the muchloved mascot of this MB,
MOBY--he said he made 18 as an antidote to 9/11, because he
wanted people to feel nice again.

people who'd have changed their music because of 09/11 are
sell-outs. (if it's just one track about it that's no
problem, but changing more would be selloutness.)

09/11 wasn't that terrible, was it?
maybe it had a great symbolic value, but wtf.
about 30 humans die every 10 seconds approx anyway.

..and so if a rap group does a song about the hypocrisy of
the US actions after the WTC incident ytou would call them
sellouts...? hmm.

i said "if it's just one track about it that's no
problem"
, didn't i? ;)

if one band decides to make a whole happy or anti-taliban or
whatever album especially for after 09/11, then that's
selling out (and in some way pretentious if they're
americans).
