Im somewhere between a vegetarian and vegan. if your a
meat eater would you mind explaining why you eat it? the
world would be a better place if no one ate or killed
animals.

id ont eat meat
but i dont think not eating meat does help the world
..unless you are one of those believers that tell you that
eating meat makes you violent, cause the "fear and anger
hormones" spread in the animals body before it was killed
and stayed in the meat
dont wanna lecture

convenience, and it tastes good.

man, people are gonna be hating me after tonight, what with
this thread and the capital punishment thread.

but,

ive eaten meat all my life. ive grown up with it, so its
something im used to.

also, it would be insanely hard to be a vegitarian at my
college, becuase if you live in the dorms, you have to be on
the meal plan, and the meal plan doesnt offer a vegitarian
menu, or at least not a healthy one.

and i cant go out and buy vegitarian food, cause i dont have
that kind of money.

i tried to become vegitarian 2 years ago and it didnt work.

#1. i was living with my parents, and it makes it harder
for everyone when you dont all just eat the same thing.
#2. i found meat too tempting, i just like the taste. i grew
up with it.

maybe someday when i am completly on my own, and can choose
what i eat, and still do so healthily, i will do it. ill
need some will power though.

but yeah.

i dont mean itll help the earth but it will make everyone
better people in the world if we didnt eat meat. most
people dont even think about the fact that theyre killing
animals and eating them, they just think of it as food and
nothing was alive about it. i mean sure people know they
were alive but they have never seen how horribly they are
treated and the pain they experience. i could go on forever
about this...

i generally dont like the taste of the vegitarian menu

i used to eat meat only chicken because i thought the rest
was disgusting really. the more you learn about what you
eat really affects it. if you learn more about the meat
your eating or like animals then you stop sometime. i hope
to sometime create some sort of video that will get a lot of
people to stop eating meat.

im completly aware of the processes of killing animals for
meat

but theres nothing i can do as of now.

sure, you could say, well if you really wanted to, youd find
a way

this is true

but i guess i just dont really want to. i have other
priorities at the moment.

animals including humans eat things that have been grown or
are alive at some point, whether its plants or animals

i don't see anything different in eating an animal or a
plant - i eat both

in adbusters it says this of meat eaters:
"in relation to animals, all people are nazis; for the
animals, it is an eternal treblinka". im also against all
the testing on animals, that makes me sick what they do to
them. pick up admusters someday my friend. you will change
your tune someday (hopefully)

i eat very little meat.......i grew up on a farm and being
forced to see animals killed 'to numb me or get me used to
it' is something i'll never forget and made me squemish
about eating meat.

plain and simple.....i eat meat on occasion...as well as
fish.....cos it's too hard to be a vegitarian/vegan and
maintain your health. i don't like obsessing about food and
i've seen vegitarian friends just worried about everything
they eat.......i can't live like that.....so i compromise.
=/

I'm a vegetarian. I kind of stopped eating meat.

don't miss it.

I agree with that idea, earthleakage, but then we should
really hunt for the meat we need, just what we need, not
make it a large ass industry as it is now.

ok first of all animals eat meat on instinct, many animals
eat only plants, probably the majority. the difference is
we know better and have the option to not eat animals. there
is no reason to eat meat at all, you can live without it.

its not that hard to eat healhily as a vegetarian - to me
that seems a bit of a myth.

well and there is a lot to say for vegetarianism on
the ecological tip. the amount of plants'n'stuff that is
needed to feed animals could provide for a lot more food
than the animals..

but thats not really a problem anymore, as animals mostly
get grinded up leftovers from other animals to eat..

offline MachineofGod from the land of halo's (United States) on 2002-10-20 19:38 [#00410714]

do you know how much meat is thrown away because it is
diseased or old or just not bought? its a huge #. many
animals are killed for absolutely no reason. this is more
of the question on treatment of animals, that is the main
question that branches out to eating animals.

our culture (european\american) is built around convenience.
this is the main problem, we have WAY MORE food and items
than we need. the avg american eats so much more food than
anyone else in the world.

you still haven't told me one good reason why i shouldn't
eat meat

get real - humans and animals are worlds apart. they are
there to be eaten, preferably with peas and chips and some
peppercorn sauce

you're an athiest? so what do you care if i eat meat? you'll
be dead soon, and for evermore you won't exist. so if i
enjoy some dead cow surely i should make the most of it?

imo athiesm is as naiive as religion, if not the ultimate
irony of being a religion itself by being a non-religion

you are an idiot if you think that "your supposed to eat
them" the only reason we do is because thats the norm.
humans are so ignorant, we think were so much higher\better
than animals, we are f ucking animals. if were supposedly
smarter and we have the option to live fully and eat healthy
without killing them then why would you?

your one of those people who think that if someones an
atheist than theyrenot ethical or reasonable people, you
totally have the wrong perspective of things. atheism is not
a religion, i am not affiliated with religion at all if you
like it stated that way

on a puffy could in the sky or are you reborn as a cow..?
(that would be fair)

"imo athiesm is as naiive as religion, if not the ultimate
irony of being a religion itself by being a non-religion"

this is stupid. it makes no sence. people who dont belive in
religon are called atheists, that doesent make them
religous.

WOOHOO! this party is on its WAAAY!

anyway, earth, you are sounding kind of stupid at the
moment.. :)

I mean, I agree it is natural for humans to eat meat, but
that doesn't mean you HAVE to do it.

for me, I don't like the idea of an animal dying for my
food, especially because in the end, it just isn't
necessarry. I'd hate to see animals as objects.

damn man, animals eat other animals in nature, and that's
not natural? Should we stop them??

Protest mindless hunting, but eating animals for food? My
hamburger isn't killed by a pack of lions who slowly
suffocate it wil tearing its skin off, it dies nice and
easy. The only reason there are so many cows to kill is
becuase we raise so many of them......

really, protest hunting and gaming, leave us carnivores
alone.

we eat meat becasue we ARE superior to other animals

well i'm not an idiot, i make informed choices, i choose to
eat meat because i like it. more like why wouldn't i?

"i choose to eat meat because i like it"

now, to me, that sounds like an honest reason. saying stuff
like "its natural" is more bullshit, if you see what I mean.
then again, just because you like something, doesn't make it
good.

I don't mind anyone else eating meat, its your choice.

the fuck?

did i say we're supposed to eat them? no, but i will if i

just because i don't agree with you i have the wrong
perspective of things? i really don't hold out much hope for

I said exactly that in an earlier message.. I do think its
natural for humans to eat meat, but not in the
industrialized way its done now. people see the stuff on
their plate just as another thing to digest, not part of a
living being.

lets go back to hunting!

my own spirituality or what i believe in is my business, and
unlike you i do not preach. i except my own existence as i
see it. if you can't see the major difference between humans
and other animals i suggest you research the area a little
more.

of course its natural, becasue we now have a method to mass

yeah, they might not be writing books and destroying the

life is life and they can feel pain and fear. i dont really
think its right breeding them and slaughtering them in big
