Hi I found this site from looking at the Windowlicker video on youtube, and someone posted a comment saying Aphex Twin had died recently. So I googled "Aphex Twin Dead" and it lead me to an article interview on here talking about his dead brother picture on the Girl/BoyEP. I'm glad to know he isn't dead - random how I found this place, I know.. :D |

dude, people will say stuff like disco is dead. Since Aphex Twin is his own style, people with no respect say, Aphex Twin is dead. I like aphex, I'm using one of his tunes for an animation I'm working on. Thing was, I made the trailer so good that everyone expects to much good to come from the actual fighting scenes :p I was looking around for some more of his music, since I have only 10 songs by him and one of them is Unknown under the artist inside the file, but people thinks it was by Aphex. I'm a musician myself and I look forward to being able to improve my sounds. I'm not saying I want to be more unique than others, I already am....just not in the good way :\ so I look forward to this as being a learning experience with you all. |

Um hi. I am a composer from the New York City area, currently studying Electronic Composition and Recording Arts at the Jacobs School of Music... I always had an equal love for technology and music, but never fused the two until high school, when I started composing on the SuperCollider3 platform. I think this type of computer music is the future, and I'm really happy to be one of the few trail blazers in this field. I love all sorts of electronic music, but tend to stay away from trance and all of the nonsense involved in that stuff. I really love Aphex Twin, which seems to be pretty common here, as well as all of his derivatives (Jenkinson, uZiq, The Flashbulb, Venetian Snares, etc.) but my favorite electronic musician is obviously Karlheinz Stockhausen (RIP 2007). I come from an art music background, and not an electronic background, so my influences are much more favorable towards folks like Xenakis, Reich, Zorn, Braxton, etc. I really dig Ikue Mori and Mike Patton's electronic experiments with Zorn in particular... Anyway, I have a lot of music online. I run under the pseudonym Broken Hearts on Ice (www.myspace.com/brokenheartsonice) and my production label, which I am now rebuilding after many years of inactivity due to school commitments, is www.gwohlproductions.com Looks like a cool board - looking forward to contributing to the intelligence and zaniness of this place... |
