JOB from St.John\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-12-12 02:50 [#00060086]

I own:
Modus Operandi
Form & Function
Risc vs Reward

good stuff. Check it out.

revpersona on 2001-12-13 01:54 [#00060388]

Photek is on Wipeout 3? Well, on the American version
there's no song by him, but perhaps on the european one
there is. Oh, and Photek is one guy, and yeah his dark drum
'n' bass is good stuff.

])@RTH \\\/@])ER from An Imperial Cruiser on 2001-12-17 00:50 [#00061526]

Allso check out his alias SPECIAL FORCES especialy "Bleep
tune".
Photek wont release any more DnB under the name Photek, only
house n shit. But he still release a 12 inch DnB masterpiece
now and then on his own label PHOTEK PRODUCTIONS as SPECIAL
FORCES.
I think TEEBE and TOTAL SCIENCE sounds alot like Photek to
sometimes.
But no one else can make those perfect razor sharp beats
like Photek.

Aktium from bat country on 2001-12-17 02:08 [#00061545]

that's a fantastic album. shame he lost it with his
disco/house album 'solaris'. a couple b-sides/rarities have
surfaced since that album and he's done more dnb stuff. i
hope he returns to his previous style, but then again -
artists will be artists, right?

you've heard photek's "ni ten ichi ryu" right?

Photek is awesome. He's one od the few if not only true dnb
artist that like.

Get Relics(plaid remix) and Pharaoh. Good stuff.

photek is awesome, but solaris sucked. i mean, god that was
an awful album. modus operandi is still probably one of the
best d n b releases around.

I like pre-Solaris Photek. I've got Modus Operandi, Form &
Function and Risc vs Reward. I dig 'em. Also like Source
Direct as well Exorcise The Demons is great.

I have form & function
It's a good album
tho drum 'n bass doesn't do that much for me anymore

dont you think its a bit cold?
modus operandi I mean...its like pure geometry... no
feelings

listening to modus operandi for the first time right now...
it's not apersonal, i think it has feelings, they're just
buried a little!

aleph 1 is very beautiful... :)

nacmat you're absolutely right!
That's the one thing that form & function misses...
emotions....
I totally agree.
Tho it has some very nice tracks on it...

I think it has emotions. They're in the beats and the vibe
it all creates. I dunno. Guess it's something not everyone
notices. The fact that it is 'cold' or introverted sounding
is emotional to me.

If you can get hold of it his remix of Therapy?'s 'Loose' is
a classic.

I like the new deep house he's putting out. Most of you just
don't like house, which I find really weird.

Well as someone said he's still putting out drum n' bass
under the Special Forces name. He just got fed up with the
whole scene I read. As john Lennon once said:

"All we are saying...is give House a chance".

offline digital messiah on 2002-06-23 15:45 [#00281503]

yeah i read a bunch of interviews on that subject and hes
completely right on the d'n'b issue....and i dont even
listen to house music much, cuz its crap most of the time,i
only appreciate some new directions of house like
herbert,akufen,mri and such german producers.....but
photek's work in that area is ESSENTIAL,and i think if
photek releases a pure house album this year it would be the
best house album in the history of genre :)

Wow !!! you actualy picked up my info on Special Forces
???or did you know before? cool !!=)
Finaly someone who knows what they are talking about!!!

I have posted that like ten times now and it feels like im
talking to myself haha!!
Everybody just say "Photek is a sell out" and complain a bit
about Solaris.
I say get your facts straight before you post!!!.

I like his house bits to....i usualy hate most house music
but a good producer is a good producer....

As I said on another topic two seconds ago, I downloaded
some Photek tracks from ''Solaris'' and ''Form and
Function''... don't like it. Sounds cheesy and just... erm,
not good.

anywhere

i think the stuff is rather uneventful

Modus Operandi and Form and Function are great. Risk vs.
Reward was a sweet too. As for Solaris, I would of liked it
more if he didn't have a male diva do vocals for some of the
songs.

Also, make sure to grab 'relics'(plaid mix).

Modus Operandi is his finest. Other stuff just doesn't come
close. I get a very cool postmodern vibe from modus
operandi, kinda music that would be playing in some
futuristic house in a jungle somewhere.
