i literally heard this track on an episode of "The Jersey Shore" years ago, and it still, like, earworm, shows up in my head. that there's a very... la la la, i am the gingerbread man, can't catch me... that dancing to this, it's like skipping about all la la la as a greenscreen scrolls background by you not bad at all really. hands down best track i ever heard off that show |

Halo 17, Things Falling Apart, definitely one of my tops NIN releases. This track starts off... very organic grain, layers of orchestral strings and moody texture on a beat. Then 1:51, all the organic texture cuts out and they dump you into a very clean modular acid lines, and instead of film grain you're being broken up into very clean white triangles with rainbow-y edges That this came on as I was doing my yoga, dancing, tai chi whatever, and I wind up listening to this as I am essentially sitting, meditating, classic lotus. That I am very deeply tuning into the opening, finding hidden layers I'd never noticed before. Then I'm breaking up into triangles. I'll stay mum on the rest I thought: That felt like it lasted 15 minutes. And that song is only like 7 or 8 minutes. And it's been a while since I've experienced time dilation that crisply And I checked and it's 6:11 actually |

it's a bit of a slow intro, but... as it gets going, the backing music seems to start to reach out and grab the vocals. the sample&hold, buffer override, very apropos with zoom call glitches today then the music is more aggressively grabbing the vocals as the track progresses until it's raining down helixing spurts of color and percussion, i actually would reference circle pit by vsnares. but this is so utterly more beautiful. grain and desaturation and eaten away by acid i'd never actually thought about it... like, it's not really that important, never really wondered... but yes, aphex twin might be jealous of this one |

re: slipping away: i was playing the experience back in my hed just now, as i was washing my face, and, oh yes: i was seeing a swamp, but through a swamp being filmed as some old degraded film footage, desaturated rainbow-y. that something about the orchestral arrangements is very definitely swampy, yes. i also see dead branches sticking up everywhere, and... shit, it's the drum beat. the drum beat is why i imagined dead branches. dark with crunchy edges then broken up into triangles |

leftfield ~ phat planet there is a way that music can kind of synaesthetically imply dance moves, or human movement in general, and 112% this is like, kind of, samuri sword lunges, some of which almost seem right out of super nintendo. that, perhaps a lot of of songs do sucha fing, but this is so utterly crisp. the sword swooshy motions are so clear. and i am studying this. |
