slack and discord are both based on the devil's bile, the electron framework, courtesy of the github. firmly in the "let the universe be all javascript" camp, when you download the desktop app, it is essentially just the web app, run inside a little sweatshop. the fucking "lazy load" shit that makes it goddamn impossible to easily scroll up to, oh, last tuesday is when i really want to.. no, it's just making me scroll, load, scroll, load that, thank the universe, other trends have some traction. but i have to use slack every day for work, and to see xlt folk migrate to something that feels exactly like the chat app i use for work every day and that i hate the app in the first place and that when i complain about it even the people at work don't say epic you're talking too much; they just nod. slack fucking sucks. discord is repeating the problem in my after-work goof-off space, and i do quite resent it. i've backed up xltronic, alright. but, actually, i got pissed off one night, and wrote a script to rip entire slack channels from work so i could not have to fucking deal with lazy scroll lazy load lazy javascript tits. since it's also electron framework i figure i could download discord easily enough too |
