AFX or AE????WTF?

Actually I was noticing the AE/AFX debates on who is
better. Indeed I voted for AFX, but as much as I respect
him, AE also has a special place in my heart, and they are
both great in their own ways. But it seems that lately the
community takes no notice of another guy who is right up
there in talent/style/creativity/etc... Squarepusher. Is
there anyone on this board who doesn't like his music?

I'm not a very big Squarepusher fan. At first listen I
liked it, but it got old. From first listen I loved AFX,
and to this day I still do...Maybe it's all those little
voices in the backgrounds of his songs saying "aphex twin,"
maybe not...

I'm talking []pusher albums like Go Plastic, Hard Normal
Daddy, and FeedmeWierdThings.

Those albums are fucking insanely good.
And dont forget about Port Rhombus and Tequila Fish on Big
Loada. Just inspirational.

I am actually one of the " wierdos " who likes []pusher more
than AFX...

But BoC the mostess...=)

I actually like squarepusher the least out of the usual
suspects (AFX, Ae, Global Goon, BoC, Plaid) but having said
that Music Is Rotted One Note is one of my all time top 3
favourite albums.

I love spusher, feed me, hard normal.., big loada, MUSIC IS
ROTED... go plastic... lots of great albums....

you might not remember, but we did a competition in the MB
(first woofer did one like a championsleague formula, with
1/4 finals semifinals and final) and spusher was the second,
then I did another championship but with a league formula
between 50 artists and the pusher was second or third I dont
remember now, so here we really love the man, dont worry

The problem with squarepusher, I find, is that most releases
seem to have 1/2 really good releases and the rest are
mediocre. If there was a release that had Tundra, Ufo over
Lay, Beep Street, Goodnight Jade, Red hot Car all one it I'd
buy it in a flash.

There is little I don't have on original format by
Squarepusher. Same with Aphex Twin.

I'm a big fan of "Feed Me..." (best release on Rephlex) and
"Hard Normal Daddy", but i think his latest albums (Go
Plastic, Do You Know...) has gone from shit to the shittest.

I agree with Ceri... his albums are just too inconsistent
for me. A 'Best Of' would probably be one of my top albums
of all time.

this is the final result of woofers championship...

------------------------------------------------
*** 1st Elektronic Championship.nu ***
__________2002 EDITION____________

------------------------------------------------
*** GRAND FINAL ***

-----------------------------------------------

THE COMPETITION IS OVER... THE CHAMPION OF THE CHAMPIONS
IS... AAAPHEXXX TWINNN !!!!!!!!

**********************************
Final result

Aphex Twin - Squarepusher = 29 - 17
**********************************

Aphex Twin is the champion of first edition 2002 of this
Elektronic championship.nu
He hasn't oppenets enough strong for him, but we have to do

a big applause to Tom Jenkinson who did a really good
championship.
This competition will remain famous for the victory of
Squarepusher against Boards of Canada first and Autechre
then.
Aphex Twin is the king, he had the benefit to play at home
but he's really a great artist and made the story of
electronic music so he deserves this victory.
...Anyway Richard would be very careful because a lot of
artists want his crown in next championship edition.

Thank you very much to you all for your important support to

this nice game, and for your important vote! This is a
really cool community.

Maybe we should do another after BOTH Ae's new album AND AFX
new release is out...It could sway some minds....

i can´t compare SP and the Twin... they are like brothers
to me.

They both DJ and do live stuff equally well as far as i can
tell but in a compltely different way. They are both funky
and groovey and catchy and melodic but are very different
flavours. How can you compare Chocolate Icecream on a warm
day to Hot Chocolale on a cold day?

I don't know - I just don't put Squarepusher in the same
class as Ae and AFX...

While I love almost everything by both AFX and Ae, I think I
like about 10-20% of Squarepusher's output. Go Plastic is
phenomenal but normally he's just not as interesting.

Squarepusher is amazing! When i first bought Hard Normal
Daddy i was simply blown away... i liked it more than any
other idm-release i heard before that day (still today i
think it is one of the most amazing albums ever created).

I've bought some more Squarepusher-albums, and altough i
find them all brilliant, nothing so far has lived up to HND
for me... still... i reckon he's in about the same league as
afx and ae for me :-)

Squarepusher is my favorite and has been for the past few
years. Aphex is a close second, he doesn't quite have the
"funk" of the pusher I love so much.

anyone else manage to ever hear DJ Auras mix @
warprecords.com.. the warpradio section .. the top left
corner brown button? I will keep pushing this until the
mastery of it spreads through the board like a nerve gas

A brilliant mix of SP and AFX at their braindance best with
A Clockwork Orange music thrown in for good measure....
genius

I think Venetian Snares is for more under-rated than
Squarepusher. My tastes also place Richard Devine among the
most interesting artists.
