I use a mac, not osx but 9.1 and I want to use a good file sharing program, but limewire doesnt seem to be doing the trick anymore, any suggestions from anyone?

Most of the file sharing activity on the old MacOS seems to be around Carracho and Hotline. Maybe someone here has the names of a few good hubs.
You'll have a lot more choice with MacOS X.

there is a python clone for soulseek called pysoulseek... that should work

There's no way pysoulseek will ever run on Mac OS < X.

PySoulSeek is a client for SoulSeek filesharing system that runs under Linux/FreeBSD and sorta runs under Mac OS X.
