this album is so disgusting... it's a very good release,
but the songs are so... dark... like your worst dreams come
true... what do you think about this album ?

ive been driven along to parhelic traingle a few times, ive
found myself focusing on the moon, getting the impression of
sounds emnating from space, bouncing off it, and ringing
back with the light. then when the sounds fade and the
harmony reveals itself at last, hell, that really does it
for me :)

dont get me started on lentic catachresis...

ok ok

the crescendo at the end makes me feel simultaneously like
im sitting in front of a bonfire with tribal folks dancing,
and like im in a really fast tunnel with stars and flecks of
static hurtling past..

listening to it, i reminded the little video from "the
ring", black white, these strange scenes, a burning tree...
a woman jumping off cliffs, strange looking mirrors... uuuaa

dark and disgusting??

I still haven't heard confield, but that description does
not make it sound good to me... in my mind most idm-music
(and especially autechre!) sounds very abstract. It doesn't
seem to connect to any of the normal human emotions... but
touches me on a deeper and almost undefinable level...

But this thread is making confield sound like a horror-movie
soundtrack or something :-o I guess i'll have to listen
before i buy... but first some more of their old stuff :-)

from what i had read on this mb, i was awaiting something
almost impossible to get into, without any melodies, just
fucking sound experiments... but in fact i liked it since
the first listen, a lot more than what i expected!

and yes it is dark, but i wouldn't say disgusting.

Right now i'm in about the same position uzim described...
expecting something impossible to get into.. hardly without
melodies... hm... but then again lots of people seem to love
it.

I think it is some sort of horror soundtrack. It was such an
intense feeling when I was playing Resident Evil on Gamecube
with Confield in the background. With that music the game
got scary for me the first time in some scenes. I also
thought Confield would perfectly fit to Silent Hill, it has
the same dark atmosphere imo.

'vi scose poise' and 'uviol' could suit 'serial experiments:

well the thing is i like this the most because its the most
diverse album they put out, and i'd say they put most effort
into this one
and if they would use "warmer" sounds for their music i
would be a big fan :)

I really think the idea that autechre is "cold" is wrong.

it feels like laziness - its like a clichee about ae.

they're music is very emotional to me, and in no way cold.

To be honest - AE / Gescom / anything they go "as" is my
favorite music out there.

But both Confield and Gantz Graf aren't really so much music
as they are sound sculpture pieces. Which is what I feel
sets them apart and makes them feel so alien compared to
their other work.
