i just recieved this item yesterday and watched it all the
way through and even found some of the extras...

for any of you people that have it, do you find it weird
that trent hits his head with the mic during piggy?

Hey would you know why Aphex refers to Reznor as Pierre
Bastien?

pierre bastien is differnt from trent reznor man, pierre is
signed to rephlex....

I dont thnk afx was refering to trent........

Trent does some crazy shit live, It wouldnt surprise me at
all, when he first started to do live shows he got erections
and grabbed his crotch.... amongst other things....

hehe, great performer and musician

WOOOOSLE WOOOOZIE WEEEE!

I think afx in that japanese interview was talking about
pierre bastien and not commenting about trent. Thats what i
got from it, and in past interviews, afx said that trent was
a good musician, so its all good anyway.

Dude, what animator do you use? Did you load the entire
video? I have to do so because I cant record a small clip in
a proper format before I load it into the animator. So it
usually freezes up half way through the movie.

lol
i just downloaded ulead gif animator 5, with it you can open
a video and chose the section to work with... then you can
optimize the size of the files to fit it to 12ko
its a great program
:)

There is a
hidden feature in it, on the 2nd disc right at 11:20 {its
the song Head Like a Hole} hit 7 ony our DVD remote, you
will get a hidden menu with:

- A live version of The Day The World Went Away, with odd
images and stuff throwin in.

- Reptile Live

- 3 NIN commercials

- Half of Starfuckers Inc. at another concert and Marilyn
Manson helps sing the rest, and then a full version of NIN
doing the Beautiful People with Marilyn Manson.

(THANKS TO REFLEX FOR POINTING THAT OUT)

who is pierre bastien?

piggy is the weakest track on downward spiral imo (even
though it is necessary, like every track, since it's a
concept album)... but the live version is very good. it
really transformed the song.
even better is the 'piggy (nothing can stop me now)' remix
on FDTS... makes an awesome remix out of a simply good
track!

offline Mickey Mouse from The Moon on 2003-01-01 15:23 [#00497661]

pierre bastien is an artist singed to rephlex who makes
abstract music, supposidly his last release was made with
robots or some kinds

the album is called mechanoid

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2003-01-01 15:56 [#00497688]
Points: 14550 Status: Lurker

there're even more hidden features than that actually

"piggy" rules. those drums? come on. one of the best moments
on the downward spiral. interesting recording process for
that solo too. the only live drums on the album (everything
else is sampled, mostly from iggy pop). check out the rick
rubin remix too, featuring dave navarro.

and pierre bastien is an electronic music legend, not just
another artist signed to rephlex.

offline uzim on 2003-01-01 16:45 [#00497738]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

thanks Mickey Mouse!

titsworth > yeah, the drums at the end of the track...
besides there is surely sense in the chaos of these drums;
the character is starting to lose its reason, his
self-control...
but still, i prefer the other tracks off TDS.

offline Mickey Mouse from The Moon on 2003-01-02 01:16 [#00498216]

Yea pierre bastien is pretty neato, check out his site, he has a
big discography of stuff, you can check out some of his
inventions and pictures of his robots.

"not just another artist signed to rephlex."

that made me laugh, a lot of great things come from from
rephlex.

and a lot of crap as well.. anyway my point was that he's a
veteran artist, not some 22 year old on rephlex who in all
likelihood will be forgotten in 30 years.

offline Mickey Mouse from The Moon on 2003-01-02 02:07 [#00498253]

I know what your point was dood, take a chill pill

I think that most everything comming from rephlex is great,
just my opinion though.

I respect pierre for being around for so long and making so
many tunes, and being the creative guru he is. But I cant
say I dig his tunes as much as some of the "22 year old on
rephlex who in all likelihood will be forgotten in 30
years"

just my 2 cents though

d00d, rephlex is one of my fave labels. but come on, richard
and grant signed a lot of "johnny no-names" whose music can
most politely be described as "disposable" and i wanted to
clarify that pierre bastien's been in this idm game for a
minute now. it's not my favorite on rephlex either, but it's
got some intellectual appeal for sure.

me too but there's so much mindblowing music out there, i'd
rather invest in an album i'll keep coming back to than
something that i'm bored of after 5 spins. i guess that's
why i don't buy too mcuh idm; so much of it just sounds the
same, or sounds like anyone else could've done it. that's
why i put warp above rephlex and planet mu... not cos
they've been around longer or make more money, but cos the
artist roster has more variety and almost all the artists
you can expect something astounding from. i'm not calling
rephlex or planet mu generic, not even by comparison, just
not as up to the challenge of stimulating minds as warp is
and has been from the get-go.

oh dear

I think music doesnt have to be groundbreaking or earth
shattering to be good. Good music is good music

ha cha cha

I like NIN, the fragile was my favorite release

Yay!

Actually: "there's so much mindblowing music out there, i'd
rather invest in an album i'll keep coming back to than
something that i'm bored of after 5 spins." that made me
think so, but as of now I could really care less, either
way
