alright, do better than that, and it could be just that you
are not ready for that stuff. That man is living in another
time.

what your talking about.

p.s dont take me seriously, how can i have an opinion about

Everything means something else to everybody else. The live
disk sounds like merzbow at the end, that was pretty ill.
The ambient stuff at the end of the first disk of "do you
know squarepuser" is what I was mainly talking about. Plus
the brilliant intellectual british rap is dope. Tis all.

I merely tolerate about half of the7 new tracks on
DYKS..love the other half

I thought the new album was ok. The live cd was pointless
imo. Go Plastic was amazing though...dunno why Pitchfork
gave it such a low mark...

I kinda like his version of Love Will Tear Us Apart..even
though I find it totally pointless and out of place..mainly
because its so faithful to the original

I agree on Go Plastic..CS2x..but tracks like kill robok
could almost be off GoPlastic.

it's an awesome mini album. way too short to be called a
full album, without a doubt. maybe that's why he released an
only mediocre live album with it.
i like most of DYKS a lot, but it doesn't stack up compared
to Go Plastic or Big Loada...

the 'love will wear us apart' is awesome. i like it more
than the original, but that could be because i like
squarepusher more than joy division.

prefer Squarepusher to joy division!, sacrilage!, only
joking *is a joy division aficianado*.

ill try and download Squarepushers LWTUA, and probably
cringe through it.

i actually base my opinion of joy division totally on 'love
will tear us apart' alone...never even heard their other
stuff. so i wouldn't really know what they're like.

you should get into them, they were unique, i mean, no-one
was using the drumming pattern's they were using, the
drumming's influence was mainly early 70's Can and
Kraftwerk.

hmm..I have a feeling spoonz..so weaned on the new stuff may
not fully appreciate the technical side of Joy Division's
sound..just tell him that it IS the most emotionally
affecting music out there ;)

it's always odd, but somehow cool, talking to people who've
yet to discover some of the "masters" from past ages.
people who've been unexposed to (certain) music from the
60s, 70s, 80s, and early to mid 90s can offer a unique,
unbiased spin on things like cover versions when they
haven't heard the original. it used to make me mad but it's
silly to expect everyone to know about the same stuff.

i like []pusher's version of love will tear apart, even if
it is a bit pointless to cover a song a exactly.

i suppose it's a case of not trying to fix something that
isn't broken.

offline promo from United Kingdom on 2002-12-15 16:46 [#00481794]

From what I've heard its still pretty good. I mean he's
still the best at what he does. But you get the feeling
certainly with someone whose made such an impact like
Squarepusher that where does he go next (especially with not
a massive audience). I'm wondering with people like
Squarepusher whether its time to bow out and for them to say
to themselves 'well I'll go down in history so perhaps its
time to do something else'. Problem is for people like TJ
they get stuck in a rut, stuck down a cul-de-sac with what
they do. I think they find it hard to see the wood for the
trees or perhaps they can and figure 'well what else am I
gonna do?'; either way I think its quite possible they've
reached their peak and it can only go downhill from there.
For me personally I probably haven't been paying as much
attention to him as I did say up to 2 years ago; not that I
don't rate him its just I think he may have reached his peak
or maybe reaching his peak. What do the board think?

offline Zozu from London (United Kingdom) on 2002-12-15 18:18 [#00481860]

I was a bit disappointed that []pusher resorted to putting a
cover version on his latest album. Perhaps he ran out of
new material or felt he was established enough to get away
with it. Who knows? I thought my CD player had gone crazy
when it started playing.

That said, I did enjoy the other tracks on the album, and I
especially liked the intricate use of hard-edged cockney rap
in perfect time with []pusher's frenetic beats. That was a
nice little intervention on his part :o)

Isnt his new LP just tracks that never made it onto Go
Plastic? I mean the Alive in Japan disc has practically the
whole DYKS album live with some GP trax... and it was
recorded in 2001. What happened to those tracks that Aphex
had stolen on his mp3? >[] should have just did a double LP
of them...

level of violence against an opposite opinion. So what if
it's irrational,...

the track where he 'raps' is a complete clone of Otto Von
Schirach's style. Anyone who's heard Otto's stuff for years
and then hears that new track probably laughs their ass off!
Not a bad track, just COMPLETELY unoriginal and
misleading....

(sample conversation)
"Whoa... I've never heard anything like that..."
"Me neither..."

(fast forward to hearing Otto x months later)

"Man, this dude's trying to sound like Squarepusher on that
one song! What shit."

"Screw this. Take it out. Seems like everyone copies off the
big guys."

no flames, please. I like Pusher. But what does everyone
else think? Maybe they're just 'on the same level'? heehee.

offline Mickey Mouse from The Moon on 2002-12-16 23:34 [#00482993]

Yea I did think it sounded kinda like some of Otto's
rapperish stuff when I first heard it... but not EXACTLY
like it. I think its pretty origional. Especially the lyrics
behind it. He wasnt blatantly ripping Otto's style, I dont
think so at least. I mean its not like Dr. Flamenco or
anything... Otto's mc skills are much better IMO, but I
think they are doing their own thing.... just my two cents.

Dr. Flemenco is a dope ass dong BTW

So is F-Train ("the track where he 'raps")
