boc isn't that emotional to me.

it's nice and soothing, but 'further' or 'vletrmx21' are
more emotional than any boc i've heard.

and i don't know, i like the music i like.
feelings and emotions are all that matters in the end (i
think), so i think if you prefer 'technical' then technical
brings better emotions to you than what is considered as
'emotional'...

i happen to find ae more emotional that BoC, or at least i
find that they cover a wider range of emotions. BoC seem to
focus on one specific mood, and use all their technical
skill to follow that one mood, whereas ae albums can evoke
multiple responses from me.

the exception of course being confield, which seems largely
devoid of any emotional content to me.

maybe emotions have always existed and not evolved. maybe,
in the beginning, it was pure emotion without any thought.
the big bang might have been a pretty emotional experience
for us... even orgasmic?

ok, i understand what you mean. maybe youre right, i
shouldve chosen an arbitrary absolute measurement scale.
but that wasnt the point i wanted to illustrate.

i never said music was one or the other, as if it was a
dichotomy (is that a word in english?).

Autechre are often technically amazing, but I never get the
impression that that's the main aim. The technical and
'emotional' sides are working together.

With Aphex Twin, I occasionally feel he's just wanking
around technically for the sake of it. Surface over
substance. (But when he's good, he's damn good.)

Autechre can be austere, and the 'emotions' they evoke may
not be easy to identify, but you sure feel something.

there are more emotions then happy and sad.

People like autechre release these undefinable feelings.
Perhaps they only exist when listening to this type of
music?

But yeah, autechre are masterful at emotion AND technical
skill.

Thats why they are so famous. Cause they are so good.

yah, a lot of music seems to be about getting undefinable
emotions out. sometimes when i'm making a track i feel i'm
chasing a feeling that i've yet to truely feel. i've not
yet caught anything yet, but it's early in my process.

yeah.

and sometimes people cant handle it.

Like, i was listen to telefon tel aviv, and my sister was
like "i cant stand this. its beautiful melodies, with
frantic beats... totally opposite emotions are being
displayed"

they combine to form a new emotion.

imo
