In fact, in the beggining richard said in an interview that
he used to work with another person.... but the twin meaning
always came from his dead brother...

I would be neat if phobia was the other person that worked
with richard... but I dont know about that.

I have allways wondered myself what kind of ties phobia had
with afx and other artists... and how

hehe, exactly. phobiazero has always fresh news, knows about
everything about afx. how does he do it ?

I think its kinda like asking, how many licks does it take
to get to the center of a tootsie pop, because the world may
never know.

For a while I always had this conspiracy theory idea that
phobiazero was someone who works at warp or rephlex.... and
for a while a long time ago I thought phobia WAS afx. hehe

Animal testing is a terrible idea , they get all nervous and
give the wrong answers.

"Schizophrenia" aka Tom Middleton of Global
Communications/Jedi Knights fame...he's credited on
"Entrance to Exit" & "AFX 2" with afx on the original ABB1
release on Mighty Force in 91...

He's still releasing records & is pretty successful in the
Dance world....think his last 12" was the toast of the 2002
Miami DMC & topped the dance top 10...Think it was called
"take me with you" but not 100% sure of that...

He has spoken about his early relationship with afx a few
times....I recall one interview where he was kinda
contraversial and said a lot of the early afx myth & mystery
was all pre-planned & all that "makes his own instruments"
meme was just hype...

So...there's definately an untold story there...

Tom was born on the same day as afx BTW...

here's an bit from an interview in 95
"Perhaps instead we should discuss the Aphex connection -
Tom, born on the
same day as Richard James, was originally the other Aphex
Twin, working on
early tracks on the now defunct Mighty Force label.

"Mighty Force never got the credit they deserved - Richard
treated them
really, really badly," Tom states with barely concealed
disgust. "As far as
I'm concerned the Richard James I knew died a few years ago.
He's turned
into Dick Vader. He's developed certain ego problems and
turned to the dark
side of the Force. He moved to London, bought a tank and got
put on a
pedestal by the press. We're both Leos - I know exactly what
that does to a
Leo. He likes nothing better than being told he's a god,
when in actual
fact, he's angst-ridden and very destructive."

"Come down 'ere in yer tank," he jokes, faking a heavy West
Country accent.
"And we'll 'ave yer in our combine harvesters!"
"...

Sounds like he is probably speakin the truth to me, I think
if you want to make money in this business you have to be
ruthless. Many people have got shitloads of talent but wont
ever be rich or famous cos they havnt got the killa
instinkt.
It would twist anyones head having soo many people kissing
your ass worldwide. Personally, i dont care how much of a
twat afx is as a person, as long as he keeps giving us his
amazing music.
Long live afx!!!! (shithead or saint)

he was very friendly to me on Thursday, put his arm around
my shoulder and asked me what my name was.

aparently during the same evening someone asked him about
some booking to which he replied: "Yeah, of course I'll
play, I'll ejaculate on your records. Bye."

So he's obviously a mixed bag.

Yeah i have seen interviews on tv and heard on the radio ,
he doesn't sound like a twat at all , infact he acts polite
and seems a bit shy.

Shame Tom Middleton and Mark Prichard still don't release
under Global Communication.... Pentamerous Metamorphosis and
76 14 were two of the best ambient albums ever IMO. It would
have been really great to see a GC/AFX teamup for SAW vol. 3
:D
