Maybe they feel that they've pushed the outside schtick as far as it can go for now and wanna do something else before it becomes formulaic.
Or maybe they started this rumor to fuck with our minds and there'll be fake easy listening bootleg mp3s circulating but then they'll release like Confield x 10 and our heads will explode wheeeee!

you are all wrong.
1. Gantz Graf is musicless (but 3rd track) 2. Incunabula and Amber are great, no less than wonderful Confield, and if Ae want to make something like that again, we can only hold our breath... They've been rotting down their music for a while. Gantz Graf is like a step backward to all those dying AFX and everyone. (Yes AFX is dying slowly, see DrukQs for more). They sacrifice music to the beasts of harsh chaos electro thingies floating around. Take Peel Sessions 2. There are only two good tracks, and they're super good, that's because they HAVE music inside. And the other two are only good in the state of 2-sec loops, to which you listen and think 'yeah, that'd make a fucking nice hardcore song, but where are those melodies we love Ae for'. GG is primitive. As is a smaller part of Confield. I mean, they just HAD to put some beautiful melodic stuff there, but they didn't. And the rest of elements just aren't self-sufficient...

oh geez
they havent even released a track listing and everyone's already disappointed
im sure that for the first month or so after it comes out, everyone will hate it.. but within a year it will be regarded as a sacred religious document by the same people who hated it..
i dont know where the rumor of it being more melodic and accessable came from
but it sounds pretty interesting to me.. im sure they'll keep running with elements from confield and gantz graf.. but with a bit more melody and a little less obtuseness..that sounds perfect
its not like theyre going to release another incunabula or something
come on guys..at least wait till the album comes out before you start bitching about it

why is it you people think if its not confield or merzbowmasturbatorialnoisebleeding (my pet name for gantz graf), that means it must sound prehistoric and amateurish? the album isnt even close to out yet, and you guys are busy shooting it down already... just look at me... i HATED gantz graf, but i'm not sitting here being closed-minded to it, because i know soon they'll do something i DO like. you don't have to like everything these people put out, you know. one bad album or ep doesn't mean they've lost it, and neither does doing something simply as a change of pace. i must say when i got into this type of music, i thought "now HERE'S a style where people seem to care about what's important, not a fashion". well, i must say that i was wrong to think that... because this messageboard is about as snobby and image-oriented as a limp bizkit message board. the only difference here is taste. they like A, you like B, but you're STILL acting like children. i'm sure sean and rob have much better stuff to do than LIVE on a message BORED. go write your own music. i do. it's fun. maybe it'll give you a better perspective on what being an artist is like, and how hard it is, and how that mentality works. sorry to bitch, i'm usually a pretty peaceful guy (being a christian and all) but i come here to see if there is any intelligent discussion and everyday i'm disappointed. i hope this website gets on its feet soon... cuz the waiting room is starting to suck.
PS: you can all jump on my back now ;)

AMEN, BROTHER. Jesus is right, you pathetic motos.
Fuck this scheisse! "Not music" means not carrying a melodic component, and not having anything else that could compensate and interest. How many times do I have etc
PS DrukQs ang Gans Grath are getting too far into stupid chaos, that's why I like it not. It's not interesting (unlike Confield, which is chaotic but talented). I'd rather enjoy another Polygon Window release, than listening to this fashion-preaching crap. If you make trash-bleep-hardcore-something, people expect a bit more than just playing the same old stupid FX over and over. Be original or be musical.
DOES ANYONE LIKE TRACK 1 OF GG? TELL ME WHY!

you're not fooling anyone. music is not defined as containing melody. haven't you ever heard music with only perucssion? you're making a fool of yourself. stop now for your own sake.
i love track 1 of gantz graf. it's one of my favorite ae tracks. i couldn't tell you exactly why i love any piece of music other than that it induces pleasure or other positive feelings. gantz graf has something to do with traveling between worlds maybe? it feels as if it's punching into another dimension.

I like it.
where to begin..
1. it all falls at your definition of music. my definition is, music is the ordering of sounds in a particular way --> composition. that broadens it a bit, doesn't it?
2. to say that ae make "chaos" is not true. every fukking detail, every little sound they put in their music (YES! music) is there for a reason - the most important reason: they chose for it to be there. ae have used mathematical models to create sounds, but they never throw it to chance alone.
I like Gantz Graf because the texture of the track is ENORMOUS. you can almost touch the track when it plays. it is extremely dynamic: it evolves, slaps, revolves, folds in and over, stretches, snaps, slides and turns and you can hear EVERY detail of it. this makes it an exhilarating track for me.
4. there IS melody inside of gantz graf.

it'd be cool to have, say, 3 such tracks per album, but not 10. I don't say I don't like it, I think it's one of the most exciting features of Aphex, but it's pretty much almost the same lately, this is what gets me.
