"You are stupid."

what are you talking about? it's one thing when you're face
to face with somebody and you don't have time to react, so
you resort to name calling, but here in cyberspace you have
time to think and have a conversation. the fact is that you
statement about gg not being music is wrong. what you meant
is that you don't like it and your panties are in a bundle
because other people are enjoying something that you aren't.

Then why the hell do you people say 5 times a row that I
hate Confield, or that I insist on melody or another
bullshit?

Oh well. I just say it bothers me that Ae have nothing
better to give us than 5 mins of standart sm-noise. And AFX
is doing drumtracks that are indistinguishable (sorry, it's
impossible for me to spell this correctly) from each other.

that's fine that you don't like latest from afx and ae. i
just don't like your high and mighty reducing the music to
nonmusic. it is music, music that you don't like, music

it is music, music that you don't like, music tha--

do you say that GG 1 is not plain noise? Is there a rythm or
perhaps another component that makes it listenable? I'm not
a redneck asshead who hears an effect he himself made many
many times, and assume it's cool music because those guys
handle it a little bit better? You can play around with some
plugins and give out what you call 'music', but it has
nothing. It's nothing. NOTHING. Noise. NOISE.

It's music. Albeit, pushing the envelope of what the
definition of music is... and it's sub-par for AE.

Now Confield... THERE'S music! Can't fucking wait for the
new AE.

I'd be extremely glad if Ae go in that direction... Confield
rules all. But GG is like Minidisc. Noone says MD is music

the rest is just raw sample source. And GG is like that.

you just wrote "I'd rather enjoy another Polygon Window

you've also yet to mention any specific tracks on drukqs
that lack a melody.

I'm not agreeing with Skyfarmer (I love Drukqs), but the
lack of standout melodies (on the harsh tracks) kind of irks
me, too... though I don't really listen to them for their
catchiness.

AFX237 v7 starts off with a great creepy tune, but that's as
far as it takes it... kind of annoying.

Mt Saint Michel? you've gotta be kidding. you don't hear the
synth melody? the vocal melody? even the drums are melodic.
terrible example if your argument even has root in reality.

i find it ridiculous when people state their musical
preferences/opinions as universal fact, ie this has no
melody, or this is just noise, or this is not music.

why not just admit you dont like it, and realize that the
fact that you dont like a particular track doesnt make the
said-track unlikeable?

i hate boy-bands. i think their music is disgrtaceful. but
that doesnt actually make their music disgraceful (i wish it
would though).

you cant make universal facts out of opinions i think...

you can actually :)
it's a question of self-containing
boybands ARE disgraceful
and does it matter if I say 'it's crap' instead of 'I don't
like it'? MY opinion is reality. I'm always right. hehe

offline CORTEX from Canada on 2002-12-10 23:12 [#00477233]

it's a questionof different perspective.

to me, saying 'it's crap' sounds like it's a fact, ie water
freezes at 0 celsius

tom me, saying 'i dont like it' sounds like youre giving
your opinion which doesnt mean you close minded and cant see
the other way around, ie people actually liking it.

ok let's see if youre always right:

what's the best ae track?

i have it under great authority that parts of the new AE
album would fit straight into the Pop category in HMV -
they're just so commercial.....bear in mind this is from the
same person who claimed the latest Mira Calix album to also
be "commercial"...although i gotta admit I thought it
sounded like One On One part 2! (that's not to say that a
bad thing btw!)
so anyway - with a bit of perspective, he probably just
means it's not quite as "extreme" as GG!!

i have to defend our russian pal here, flea. i haven't seen
him diss confield anywhere. he just doesn't like some tracks
which he says isn't music, like sim gishel. and i agree with
him that it isn't music, but i don't think that's such a bad
thing. if music really consists of 4 (or how many?)
elements, sim gishell has 3 of them. which makes it an
interesting track, at least.

and let's not attack skyfarmer because he calls himself
closeminded :) i'm sure he wouldn't have done that if he
knew the exact meaning of the word :D
