Compared to his other releases, SAW 85-92 sounds very poppy to me. I mean, listen to the clubby beats on Ptolemy and you might get my drift.
It's not a bad release, but I wouldn't rate it as great, either.

It hasn't aged gracefully, for sure, and has dubious quality on some tracks, but it's an important look at the development of a "braindance" genius...
Respect, ladies and gentlemen.

Sorry, it's just that...
well, it's boring. Repetitive. Sonically shallow.
But every other release is freakin' brilliant!!

I beg to differ. "sonically shallow"? expand on this. and the quality of the music or sound is a common complaint that i don't understand, as it just adds to the aura surrounding this excellent album.
its as good today as it was ten years ago.

Some parts are good, some parts are GREAT, but imo it doesn't have the qualities of ICBYD, Drukqs, and all the others.
Still, he was only fourteen, I can't complain! =D
Sonically shallow: Too much distortion, not clear-sounding, just shallow in production qualitites, I guess.

I'm soory, I'm not usually a complainer, but...
I don't know, it's just an album that's lost its shine for me, you know?
I'm really sorry.

I like the sound....but then again I'm a sucker for early 90's releases.
Besides the 'On' Single SAW 85-92 is my favorite release by RDJ.
And like what was already said, this album was influential to the further development of the genre.
