Dunno, RDJ was my introduction to this form of music and I still listen to his tracks but I keep discovering other artists and so they become fresher... Plaid are my current top IDM artist.

Hi Jar, long time no speak. I agree- RDJ was introduction (although I've always been into "Techno"...), but now I have different flavours of the month. AFX is still one of my favs and the one I return to most...

Hey there Ceri, indeed 'tas been a long time =o) I still find some tracks by RDJ (usually under another alias) which I didn't take to before, but mostly I'm always looking for new stuff. He still has some of the best IDM tracks around though (Taking Control - I mean, you just cannae deny the pooooweeer!!!)

RDJ invented the "IDM"/braindance genra (if your talking "IDM" music...... but if your talking avant gaurd stuff... its been around a while). He is the elvis of electronic music. The King! Nothing has ever come close to the awesomeness of the RDJ album or come to daddy... nothing...
but this is all just IMHO.
Yay for Richard! yaY!

i think he is very slightly better then almost everyone else, i feel he is one of the most varied artits around and deserves a message baord devoted to him, but i wouldnt say he was the best by far.

I've been listening to less of him recently. Plaid and Black Dog have been taking up much more of my time. You might not thinks so, but Plaid were just as essential to the genre as RDJ, at least IMO. They were pioneers as well.

Afx is more diverse, more with feeling.
Ae is more technical, dealing with a different kind of feeling, they have this underlying theme in all their music, where as afx has whole new themes for his shit.
Don't matter, they both kick serious ass.
My nipple(s)....

i don't think so... sometimes it's hard to distinguish idm artists
early squarepusher, BoC, telefon tel aviv, plaid, they all have their style but it depends of the tracks, sometimes when my playlist is on random and it comes to some idm track i couldn't tell which artist it is from.
besides some people here make some really good tracks which could rivalize with some of the well-known...

i much prefer ae afx doesn't even come close maybe at one time afx was the best compare SAW1 with ae's early work and afx might come out on top, but with their last few releases ae have evolved better than afx imo.
