IDM PETITION!!!!!

based on something said on this thread i've decided to
take some action here.

everyone on this board send an email to the following:
-cdnow.com
-amazon.com
-bn.com
-borders.com
-warpmart
-any other online realtor of your choice

and TELL them to stock the cosmic forces of mu compilation,
venetian snares, hrvatski, nautilis, luke vibert, and all
your other planet mu favorites.

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT.

even if you don't buy cd's, most of us here do and we're
pretty fed up with not being able to buy them in the united
states (and other countries). we need to make these
companies realize there IS a large demand for this music,
not just sit here passively hoping things improve while we
keep downloading more and more planet mu albums we'll never
purchase.

don't sit on this. i'm about to email 10 different sites.
spread the word.

thanks.

warpmart has planet mu stuff regularly.

they should sell direct from their website, they'd make
double the money then

Mike P has said on the Planet Mu Phorum that he's looking
into selling directly and that it would be possible next
year.

I'll send a message to amazon.com, since that's the only one
I use regularly.

This can work - back when I was still buying from cdnow.com
they responded to my emails by stocking stuff from Kranky
records. Maybe it was just a coincidence but there you go.

Don't tell them to stock it - just ask them if they can
order it.. don't cause trouble.

Anyway there are 52 left in stock in UK.

It isn't available in US until I re-release it there because
Forced Exposure did it first. now we're with bubblecore and
we have to re-promote it through the normal channels which
takes around 2 months.

fine, then everyone say "i want to order [insert like 3
releases here]" if stocking it would cause trouble.

the point is, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. i feel like a fucking
numbskull for not realizing this earlier.

amazon.com has some obscure stuff actually. I just looked
and they have venetian snares. I've never heard VS- which
has doll doll doll on it?

I always go to my record stores by my house and tell them to
stock up on µ releases. I think that it would be more
important to do that then to tell internet sellers to do the
same. Ameoba records in LA does a really good job at
stocking µ stuff. But other then that... not many other
places have it. Even when you ask borders to special order
some stuff from µ they cant do it..... I wonder how warp
records started out? And how they managed to get their
releases everywhere... even in best buy for christs sake.

w M w: doll doll doll

Mickey: not all of us live near cool music stores. i know
that during the school year i sure don't. i have the school
bookstore and walmart. i think internet sites would be
beneficial cos this way people across the country (or the
world even) can order the cd's. obviously it's important to
tell both shop owners and web sites though.

anyway i hope people use the forms i linked above, it only
takes a moment to tell them to order some planet mu albums
for you.

money is tight.

im not trying to be a bastard. think of another way for me

just tell them to order some copies (on the premise that
you're the one who's going to buy them when they're
available) and i guess they'll be put them on the main site.
to me that's different from them just stocking all planet mu
albums. i guess it's a little ambiguous cos i'm not quite
sure how requesting that planet mu cd's be stocked is
"causing trouble," unless that's his way of saying their US
distro at the moment is really shite..

try getting them in bulk on warpmart or www.boomkat.co.uk
www.smallfish.co.uk
unfortunatley you have to have big sales and great press to
get into the big stores - as most journalists are lazy or
happy to follow, not lead labels like planet mu don't get
masses of press on the whole

it's a pity. but then again what's to stop an online realtor
that prides itself in offering a big selection from stocking
some planet mu cd's? bn.com has one vsnares and 2 nautilis,
i think they should stock some more.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL INDIE SHOPS!

this seems a much better idea. ask THEM to order what you
want if they haven't got it, otherwise you'll shortly be
buying everything from HMV, Virgin and other priced up
shitholes.

"SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL INDIE SHOPS! "

i second that, why would you guys want these places to get
idm when you can just get it from a better source and often
cheaper.

bentcrayon.com is the place, especially since it will help
the store since i live near it. i still have no idea how a
lot of you have heard of this place.

i think planet-µ-mart is probably the best avenue

and if they suddenly get a bucket load of emails with
no substance (ie. no real intention to buy) might even be
counterproductive: guess it depends what you write in them
emails?

1. exactly how many times do i have to say that there are no
music stores (let alone indie shops) in my college town and
that online ordering is my only outlet for buying music?
2. i agree with your anti-corporate ideals but come on,
don't be selfish. a lot of people who want albums on planet
mu (or insert any other small label here) DON'T give a hoot
where they buy it from as long as they get it. furthermore,
you're missing the point -- these cd's are sadly very rare
and it would greatly help the labels (eg: planet mu) to have
their albums sold on popular sites like BN.com, cdnow, etc.
compromises have to be made in this situation. it's not like
we're talking about radiohead albums you can buy anywhere.
