I rented it out -- I enjoyed it quite a lot - I have
Rushmore (same director), which I think I prefer

I liked it a lot, saw it in the summer. Finally we're
talking about a movie I've seen :-D

I haven't seen Rushmore, but I heard it's good.

it's a good premise, and promising start and second act
but..to me it just crumbled and lost it's edge by the third
act...the innovation kinda fizzled out..

still a bloody decent movie mind....just the expectations
are set HIGH up at the start and it doesnt end up delivering
all it promised..

to me atleast...

they're all just great, its the actors that made this movie
as good as it is

pretty normal guy he was in this one-i never so him perform
as an totaly casual guy :)
i was surprised how he was actually, because im used of
seeing him as a total "lunatic and weirdo" :))

to me, what he tries to do in The RT doesn't work there, but
works completely in Rushmore.
in RT I thought: "oh yeah another weird character, and
another, and another".
did anyone notice that the text you see on the
'chapter'-cards is directly out of the script (kind of
disappointed me..).

Yes Rushmore was definately superior, even though RT had
Alec Baldwin narrating. Both of the movies are fantastic,
but Max is oen of the greatest characters in anything ever,
including Bill Murrays character who I forgot the name of.
I'd love to see the whole versions of the plays, they looked
pretty classy!

i love the scene where father and son are arguing in the
closet full of family games. such a perfect ironic scene.

yes. well okay, I like the big stack of porntapes in RT.
great shot.

oh and when they're with the father - everybodys close to
the camera except Paltrow who's standing in a far-off
corner. very theatrical.

I have to play the Devil's advocate here... Royal Tenenbaums
is better than Rushmore.

my $0.02

i rented rushmore and I kinda thought it sucked as did
bottle rocket, rt is better in every possible way. rushmore
really had no point if you ask me and it seemed WAY TOO
long. i mean obviuosly rushmore is better than almost every
movie in theaters at any given time but compared to all the
better movies out there it does nothing.

I have exactly the same idea about RT: there is no point.

Rushmore is funnier, much more believable, less conceived..

i didnt consider rt or rushmore comedies. neither are funny
at all. theyre serious almost all of the time.

I believe they would be classified as black comedies, MOG:
which is why they aren't "funny" funny

that could explain things a bit wouldnt it. of course its
not like i expected them to be funny either, i knew what i
was getting into.
