My brother got this on DVD for his birthday yesterday. We
watched it today. What a fuckin awesome movie! I'm not big
on anime or anything, so I dunno how it stacks up to the
rest. But that was insane and stuff. Who else has seen it?
What'd you think?

I haven't seen it. Damned thing wont play on a ps2 (dvd). So

it was interesting. the end is hilarious... everybody is
screaming eachothe's name over and over and over again, with
this one repeated word, which i can't remember, but i
translates to "oh my god!" or something.

I've seen it. Its very unique for an anime to say the least.
Although I'm not 100% sure I can figure out what the ending
means, I still enjoy it.

that's really shitty about the ps2 thing. how often is it
you get a dvd that won't play in a ps2?

the movie drops lines that could be stories unto themselves
every moment, leaving so much open it's kind of unfulfilling
to me.

That's why you need to read the story. The movie is just a
commercial for the graphic novels. It was a comic before it
was a anime.

the comic is a masterpiece, as is the movie. but huge, and i
mean HUGE, amounts of information are left out of the movie.
but how can you expect a two thousand page comic to be
condensed to a two hour movie and not lose anything?

perfect blue is another great anime. and read Neuromancer
for more urban decay/ultra techological japan themes.

I FUCKING LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!!
it's greeeeat!
and also...if you freeze frame about halfway through the
movie..when the bus goes by on the street...
on the bus is an ad that says something to the effect of:

APHEX TWIN - SELCETED AMBIENT WORKS 99999xxxx - RELEASE
2099

something like that with the aphex symbol.....
anyone else seen that??

I agree with Jupitah. The movie gets in too deep with its
topics and never lets helps the viewer understand. But i
guess you would understand if you read the huge epic
manga... but still. I have to say that toy killing spree
with the mutating teddy bear is one of the most disturbing
events in cartoon history i have ever come across...gave me
the chills...and i had the lights off too!! gleesh!
yikes... but anyway, i didn't understand how it was OH SO
GOOD with everyone else. princess mononoke was better and
so was escaflowne the movie. i bet my neighbor totoro is
better... but you should definatly see it if youd like to
see anime's history / complex story / scary animal fights.

the movie you're talking about isn't perfect blue. its some
other anime, check aphextwin.nu or search this board.
