I loved it. Stanley Kubrick has once again kicked my ass
vicariously through a film.
Its got comedy, nudity, irony, etc. all in one!! I loved how
they played happy music whenever they we're beating the shit
outta someone. hehehehe

I love almost all of his movies, the only one I felt to be
lacking was "Eyes Wide Shut", but he didn't live to complete
that one himself, and I think that really had a lot to do
with its final level of 'suck'.

I love how it looks. the camerawork (as in all of Kubricks
work) looks so beautiful.

hate to say this, cliche of all cliches: the book IS
better than the film.

I totally forgot how this movie looks so 80's but it seems
to be set in a different dimension/time period. I love the
record store with 2001 peering at you in front of the clerks
desk. aw yeah!

80s? it was made in 1971 (A Clockwork Orange, I mean)

70's? wow, it gives me this 80's feeling for some reason.
But i love how all the interiors of houses and stores look
futuristic. Neato!

It's an amazing movie. I always wanted to be a ''Droog'' and
terrorize people... well... only when I'm in a bad mood.

What a visual feast that movie is... and I almost can't
believe it was made in '71.

"droog" is just nadsat (the slang the movie is based around,
from the book) for "friend". so, I guess you've always
wanted to be a friend ;)~

That's my favorite movie. I was fortunate enough to see it
twice at the theatre this month. I've seen the movie at
least a dozen times and still, both times I saw it at the
theatre I noticed at least one thing I hadn't before.

same with 2001.. looks so wonderful, not at all like its
1968.. (well, apart from the haircuts..)

Oh! Well, I want to be one of Alex's ''droogs'', then.

Actually, at least two people have said I remind them of
Alex. Am I really that insane?

And yeah... 2001 makes my corneas orgasm! So slick...
oooooh, I want to own a space station.

if you like Kubrick, look out for The Killing, one of the
films Tarantino ripped off in Pulp Fiction

yeah the part where the astronaut steps into the ring.. he
steps of one wall onto another thats running around him..
that would be a good special effect now, let alone in 1968!

Kubrick innovated a lot of techniques in the making of 2001:
A Space Odyssey. I like that film a lot.

Keir Dullea is sexy.

Everyone in that movie is so stonefaced and emotionless,
it's fucking unsettling...

A little bit of trivia for you 2001 fans: the little girl on
the picture-phone is one of Stanley Kubrick's daughters in
real life

I've only seen the edited version as part of my psychology
class. Apparentely it's got about 1/3 of the movie cut out,
and what I saw was still pretty intense. I'm not sure I can
handle the director's cut, but one of these days i'm going
to force myself to watch it, damnit.

I borrowed the Kubrick DVD Box set off a friend of my Dad's.
I've already got The Shining (another classic) and 2001 on
DVD and I'd already seen half of Eyes Wide Shut and Full
Metal Jacket. The "A Life In Pictures" DVD is excellent.
Jack Nicholson looks really scary though. What age is he
now, 1384?

Alex Rutterford says:

"A Clockwork Orange is one of my most favourite films, and I
feel embarrassed about that now, since his death and rise of
the cult of Kubrick in the last year or two. He's an example
of someone with a fantastic eye for the generic, he can film
anything, but his work is almost so devoid of style that
it's got a style to it. Because it's so empty there's a kind
of neutrality and a longevity to it. A Clockwork Orange is
such a 70s looking film, yet it's got such a wonderful
futuristic vibe to it, a sci-fi filter. You simply don't get
that in films anymore: so theatrical, yet with a futuristic
feeling. The closest you get to that is someone grading it
really badly, putting a heavy grade over it to convince the
audience that this is wacky and futuristic, like Minority
Report."

Can someone please explain to me what point that movie is
trying to get across? I watched it late so I couldn't
comprehend. Loved it anyway.

I just watched the Shining for the billionth time... I'm
always in awe of the scenery and the hotel itself... I feel
like I belong there. I hope somebody offers me that job
someday, hanging out in the middle of nowhere in some eerie
mansion, fuck... that's a dream. Minus the insane murderer
part, of course.
