I've been getting into jazz the last couple days... Miles
Davis is really turning my crank. Bitches Brew is really
damn good, but I think I might like Birth of the Cool even
more... and it's from 1949, ooooooollldddd...

What are some great jazz artists/songs/albums I need to
hear? Something Bitches-brew-ish... don't say Squarepusher,
his jazz stuff is lacking!

Check out Black Beauty from Miles. It's a live set that is
amazing. 2 discs at that.

Also, it's not crazy, or super experimental, but John
Coltrane's A Love Supreme is one of the greatest jazz
records of all time.

We posted at the same time. I take my caustic comments back.
Merci, I'm downloading some Coltrane right now, actually.

Hehe! Yeah, I was just lounging around here reading the
paper and listening to jazz all day, in a recliner with my
feet up. I was feeling old today.

But hot DAMN, Boplicity is one of the best tracks I've ever
heard!

jazz = good stuff.

if you like the bass stuff, check out victor wootens 'a show
of hands'. easily one of the best bassists ever to have
lived. along with jaco pastorius and john pattituci (that
may or may not be spelled COMPLETELY wrong).

It really depends on what kind of jazz you are looking for.
Theres Frank Zappa, Thomas Dolby (jazz/fusion/pop), Todd
Rundgren (jazz/rock), work from Angelo Badalamenti, George
Duke, Emerson Lake and Palmer (I think that is
rock..possibly), i don't know...i don't have my playlist
with me right now.

emerson is amazing.

You ought to check out some Charles Mingus stuff. I'm
especially fond of LET MY CHILDREN HEAR MUSIC. Great
stuff.

The new Brad Mehldau album, LARGO, is also worth checking
out.
