Astrobotnia II

Being a bit of a lurker on this site, plus having the worst
connection known to man, i have not noticed too many
comments on Astrobotnia II, which i believe, is believed to
be the work of rdj.

Excuses over now, but am i right in thinking that? I have
been listening to it for about 5 days solid now and it has
grown on me immensely. Every track is a beaut, especially 2
and 3 but i'm still a little on edge about not knowing who
it's by. If it were anyone else involved, i wouldn't care,
but for some reason with Aphex i simply must know.

What does everyone else reckon? What do you think of it? Is
it rdj? Is this a one off style? More to come on MEN? Why
the mystery? I don't have Astro III but have number I, who
did those? I think it's conclusive that Ovuca did number 1,
right, but how different is 3? What are the odds of it being
another UI?

Now correct me if i dreamt this, cos i have a vague memory
of an interview rdj did where he said that he's released
loads of stuff that no one knows was him. This leads me to
question why it is then that he releases music at all. I
mean he said that he only releases music to earn a bit of
dough to buy his kit. I mean he said of the missing mp3
player that that was his pay day. And cos he lost it, out
comes drukqs, in case it goes on the net.

Apparently he makes his music for him and his mates to
listen to, but why then release his 2 remixes by AFX, when
it can make comparitively little money. Analogues Bubblebath
3 is a cut price cd. I know and appreciate that big
promotion of albums is probably a real pain in the ass, but
he doesn't need to do that.

I'm just a bit confused that's all. Maybe, i suppose, that's
the point.

Just one of those things i guess.

Damn that evil genius! Give me more!

Oh, yes, any views on Astro II?

Astrobotnia is not who you think it is. Of course parts 123
sound like people you may know, but in reality Astrobotnia
is a new artist. Maybe Richard and Mike and Ovuca helped
produced parts 123 but all in all, i think that it is the
original work of someone new.

I definately think that part 2 is not AFX because he would
have done a way better job with it.

I think its funny that people are not certain on who made
astrobotnia. I sure dont have a clue who it is, except maybe
some elaborate collaberation or some rdj hoax. I think its
kinda neat to be mysterious like that. I dont think that
there is anyone on this site who posts regularly that would
know who it is either. So I think its best just to be happy
that its good music and leave it at that

i don't think there'd be an rdj hoaxer on rephlex, eh
Mickey?

A new artist, weatheredstoned? Not thought of that?
Hopefully so, but i'm still not convinced. Rdj had his
grubby mitts in number II for defo.

some of part2 sounded a lot like afx to me, too. but i hear
ovuca is a master of the imitation.

i like part 2 least, btw... most of the tracks don't seem to
go anywhere.

I always wanted to ask this:

Phobiazero you always seem to have this insider info that no
one else seems to have... my friend and I who have
frequently visited this site have two hypothesis. One... you
are some artist on either mu, rephlex or warp.. and it would
explain the inside information and the afx and squarepusher
propiganda/information.. or that you are friends with grant
or somebody else in high places at a well known label and
are just a big fan. Cause I think you were one of the first
sites with the Go Plastic info... so I dont know. Could you
tell me what kind of contacts you have that are nice enough
to give you your info? And if drukqs was aphex twins last
release... like SOME people say it is.. :*)

in an intreview with aleksi aka astrobotnia in sleaze nation
a uk style mag interviewing aleski from helsinki it's pretty
clear the aleski they are interviewing is the same aleski
perala from helsinki that also uses the ovica name and the
same aleski perala that has been preforming astrobotnia
tracks across europe and america all year (i''ve seen him
2wice in london).
so stop guessing and accept it.

if astrobotnia is a new artist there'd be interviews with
him and writing and production credits on the albums.
speaking of interviews, how come no interviewers have asked
ovuca point blank about being astrobotnia? are journalists
that uninvolved in idm that they're unaware of the whole
controversy?

christ - as i said earlier which you all plainly ignored cos
you so want it to be more intersting or you are bored or
something - the english mag sleaze nation interviewed
astrobitnia in their last interview - he was named as aleski
from helsinki ie ovuca- i' and thousands of other s have
heard him play these tracks - there is even one on the warp
tour comp - a tour he appeared on playing these tracks - noe
fuckin lay it to rest for christs sake

Why Astrobotnia is NOT Aphex:

1. Aphex JUST released Drukqs, he said it himself that he's
not putting out another album (for a long time)

2. Part 2 is NOT his style. Part 2 is not even the best of
the 3. If you listen closely you'll realize its not him. Why
you ask? Take notice that in all 3 parts the drum patterns
all sound alike. Richard would not use the same style drum
sequence for all those songs.

3. Astrobotnia is BORING when compared to Richards other
work. Had it been his own stuff in its entirety it would be
way more involved.

4. Netlon Sentinel is right, a lot of the songs dont go
anywhere, thus proving point # 3 even more.

5. Lack of emotion in part 2. There are no real good
melody's, chord changes, etc. Its mostly stacked rhythms IMO

you are also trying to second guess an artists style through
aspects of his previous music - as you aren't the artist
who are you to say what an artists style should be ?

all i was saying astrid, was that firstly i was unsure of
who it was as the last i had heard, there were rumours that
it could be aphex on Astro II. I had no factual evidence
when i posted this. I hadn't read any interviews and what
with those non revealing rephlex pics, left the whole
astrobotnia II thing in a small cloud of mystery - as some
may and have said, it does sound a bit like rdj. I accept
what you said now that they are all ovuca, but no need to
get pissy. Christ.
