I got quite a few AFx albums at the same time as getting drukqs, and I must say drukqs has definitely had the most longevity listening wise....I can't believe this album gets so slagged, its great.
On another note, I was listening to 54 Cymru Beats and realise the middle/end bit sound VERY tom jenkinson and very go plastic.

I totally agree, too. It's my favorite electronic album of all time. Too bad it's by APHEX TWIN and not HUTROGAN or some other unknown idiot, because then it would be worshipped.

well i hate drukqs.
no not really i love it!! it IS a good album, but i dont think longevity-wise id rate it. because:
For longevity, you to keep coming back to an album, the mood throughout it has to be somewhat constant, for example MHTRTC by BOC. Drukqs alters wildly between moods, and therefore putting it on for say a piano tune only to know there 5 drill n bass ones straight after is a bit annoying. i know u can create ur own playist, but still.
but yes it is an excellent album

A day hasn't passed since sometime in August that I don't listen to at least one track off Drukqs. I just think it's brilliant. Not great to listen to from start to finish but there are plenty of killer tracks on there.

I never listen to an album start to finish. I just skip back and forth to whatever song I feel like listening to at that moment.
Which is why I wish Drukqs was whittled down to one disc! Switching between the two got to be a hassle.
I just listen to the MP3s now, no CD hassles. :-)

I try to listen to most albums from start to finish in order to understand each piece as a whole, specially with Drukqs.

Reviewer: The Great Amagasaki (see more about me) Okay, cheesy titles aside, Drukqs have got to be one of the most off putting albums I've ever heard. I couldn't touch anything remotely Aphex Twin for months thanks to this.... Luckily my friend restored my faith in Richard James when he sent me some stuff from his earlier Ambient Works. ....
Which is not to discredit James at all. On the contrary, Aphex Twin laid the ground work for some of his latter contemperaries who would soon follow and expand on some his ideas(Autechre, Squarepusher, Boards of Canada) that he had laid out years ago. However, I think he realized that he could practically do anything he wanted and people would still listen. Sadly, I think that's what Drukqs comes down to, a man with too much artistic freedom.
Its real shame too. Richard James tries so many interesting things that with some time and effort, this could have been the mindblowing double album he wanted. In the end, I think he knew that he could squease out a mediocre album and people would still buy it.
But I press on. So Drukqs will not go down as the greatest way to end a looooooooong career(the man's been doing this for ages, early eighties) but ultimately stands as one man's final atempt to cash in before fading away. Please don't buy this. Instead, try some his earlier works, even the Richard D. James album. Or try Tri Repetae ++. It accomplishes what I think James wanted on this album but is actually listenable. This is just junk. What a waste of time and talent.

i have listend to druqks at least once every day (missin a few here or there)
not ONE fucking track has become old
thats why i consider it the greatest album of all time (to me)
it NEVER gets old
i think aphex doesn't release as much shit (in a time span) as other ppl cause he puts so much more work into his music that it's MADE to be listened to for large amounts of time.
geti t ?
GOT IT?
GOOD!

Yes, Drukqs is absolutely AWESOME. It's the most well-crafted, emotional, varying and surprising release I have ever heard.
I just got SAWII on Christmas Day, and it's getting closer to be on a par level with Drukqs.

Oh, and that album is DESTINED to be listened to when you're going like on a 6-hour drive for a holiday. It's the best music to listen to in your car for long trips, I've found.
Oh, and try listening to it while watching a movie. Damn that's cool!
