Anyone take the plunge?
I'm still downloading the officially released ISO;
and I'm already dual booting,
so this should be interesting.

I appreciate that microsoft gives people the option, and
I've heard it's pretty stable. Still, I prefer to wait until
the retail version is released, as even that will
likely have its fair share of issues given MS's current
track record.

right, I'm hesitant as well...
but I'm so damn curious about people doing real world tests
with software benchmarks that even beat out XP?!
I'll have to find the source, but it was probably from
Ars Technica.

But I'm still preparing for the blue screen of death.

Saw it virtualized at wrk, looks neat. I got a corporate
MSDN account at work so I will give it a shot.

I think they were forced to smarten up because everyone
hates them and have found alternatives. Their new web
platform ,that is free frm what I understand, runs php AND
.net apps. Thats awesome (especially for .net developers who
can't afford three times the server cost).

Windows 7 could be very cool. But Microsoft are still
assholes for trying to buy linux patents, forcing their
products onto schools who choose to switch to open office or
linux, and all that other big brother shit.

yeah I'm surprised by Microsoft's supposed turnaround.
I wonder if it's because of all the Mac switches and how
Linux while still small seems to be getting more and more
recognition.
BTW, how can Microsoft buy Linux patents?

I'm happy with OS X 10.5 (although it was much better
looking before Leopard IMO) and XP SP3.

I cancelled the beta download because of it's expiration in
August or July.
but if it does truly live up to the hype then my loyal XP is
going bye bye.

oh and Dagibit, out of curiousity, how is XP bloated
compared to Vista?
for whatever reason I detest the interface and feel of Vista
and am hoping 7 corrects some of it.

It's because they are doing some merger stuff with Novell,
which own some patents that microsoft could potentially
control... here is a to some information ...

(it's funny because you try to communicate with it and it
doesn't reply. just like an autistic. hahahaha.)

after all this time modifying XP I had forgotten about the
crummy playskool default interface geared towards mouth
breathers; along with all the software incompatibility.

for me, 98 second edition was nearly flawless (autistic or
not) despite so many other people's gripes. somewhat the
same with 2000.

I think you're right about Vista and 7. to me, 7 seems to be
what Vista should have been...
although, I'm willing to bet the built in DRM is insane.

I like OS X despite what I consider to be it's newest and
ugliest phase;
and would go Linux if only I didn't have to compile crap
just to run Firefox.

I used it recently with Ubuntu and was trying to follow the
instructions which said I needed some other piece of
software.... this was the Firefox update.
so I said "forget this" and went back to OS X and XP where
mommy makes my sandwiches for me.

oh yeah, definitely the add/update/remove thing was great
though.
glad to see Linux having much more ease of use.

almost grabbed the old game Abuse for the hell of it on
here.

abuse rocksored.
right on.

seriously, I loved that game until it came to the nonsense
jumping stage areas.

oh and I made several songs out of the low grade samples...
oddly enough it turned out to be industrial/ambient.
okay, thats not so odd considering the samples.
