I'd do it for publicity of my own stuff. I doubt I'd buy a
car or something thinking I was going to make money.

But I'm not going to start pm'ing warp on myspace or
anything.

exactly! good promotion. and you'd be an electronic act on a
label that hardly releases anything electronic anymore, so
every lousy fucking idm nerd on the planet would scold you
for not being 'aphex quality'.

I think for artists that want to make money they need to
tour. I'd love to see impakt live and grab a beer !

Who says "Oh man, guys you gotta hear my plan. I was
thinking I can make a ton of money making IDM!"?

Fuck thatttttt shit.
Even if you are SIGNED are you selling your record?
And let me tell you there is nothing more pathetic then
going to a bands house and seeing boxes of pressed unsold
CD's.

It's all image and projecting that you are more important
then you really are *APHEX*. If a band lacks that
transparency in terms of "Music Business" ethic I don't want
your shit. A lot of people couldn't give a rats ass about my
music but the second Kriss or Sublight or WHOEVER puts out a
release of mine then it's butt sniff central.

Fuck being signed, I love what the good artists here and on
other places on the internet are doing. WITH THE ADDED BONUS
that you can ask them about how they made EFFECT X and
DRUMBEAT Y.

I wouldn't mind being signed to warp at all, nobody would.
But I'm not gonna suck dick to get there either. I'll keep
making music and see what happens, perhaps I'll send
something to frustrated funk. I like "their" sound.

music industry.

This is true. I think it's just attractive because it gets
people to listen to your music, which is always nice when
you spend hours making it. Obviously you do it for yourself
primarily and being signed has nothing to do with it, but if
nobody ever gives a damn about anything you do I think it
can grind to a halt. It's like masturbation verses sex;
making music for yourself is pleasurable, but not as
pleasurable as having, oh, 9 people listening to it, once.

i'd be pretty surprised if somebody wouldn't at least
release a 12" or two (if impakt's inclined to send his stuff
out), there's some very fucking talented norwegians on here.
that acid remix of lcc is absurdly good

Well, Ceephax is capable of amazing things really. I think
he's just mucking about most of the time, but when he puts
effort into something it's pure gold.

portal13: http://www.myspace.com/indal

It's currently updated with a mix of new and old tracks, for
the fun of it.
