ya i too think more drastic action needs to be taken, for sure
(yes, i know this questoin wasn't adressed to me but i cant help it!)
our recycling initiatives aren't even making THAT much of a difference in the big picture
ya, we're willing to recycle, but nobody is willing to give up their gas-guzzling SUV.
i dont think anything will be done though.. no government wants to take that kind of a risk.. people would hate it if they had to sacrifice money, or consume less, to help
we will only change when it becomes profitable to do so sad, really.....
hehe: Mr Burns: "So mother nature wants a favour, eh!? I dont think so! Mother Nature started the fight for survival, and now she wants to quite cus she's loosing!?!? HA!"
hehe.. remember that simpsons? mr burns: "RE...CY... CLE? (*scans mental dictionary*) Hm.. i dont believe i'm familiar with the term, you adorable little ragamuffin!"
HAAAAAAHAHAH heh...... lol

Here is something to think about.....they say using paper in offices is a waste....but are we not being even more environmentally unfriendly by using gadgets such as laptops and computers, hand held computers that all need electricity? I think it is a vicious circle!

ya but energy can come from less destructive methods than clearing forests,
especially in the future (wind/solar/fusion/ etc)

The thing is though AMinal it's gonna take a lot more than just me an you to change that kind of thing though. Although there are a lot of windmill farms for generating electricity not too far away from where I live.
I fear that we will exhaust our supplies of fossil fuels..before we make the necessary changes to the way we live.

I find it hard to comprehend what kind of situation we would be in when we run out of fossil fuel.
Just imagine if you were told....as from midnight tomorrow, there will be no more electricity! The impact would be catostrophic!

ya i think about that a lot too
thats what i was talking about when i said people dont care about the future
its not an immediate enough concern, so people just dont care
they keep driving their SUVs around, which they dont need, knowing that in like 50 years theres gonna be no more gas!
the thing is.. of course there will be electic/hybrid/hydrogen feul cell cars to replace our gas-powered cars
but has anyone thought of aircraft!??!
u cant have electric planes.. the batteries would be way to heavy
and i think the other alternative energies (hydrogen feul cell) probably wont be powerful enough to power large passenger jets
