Can anyone who has played the game on PC tell me whether or
not the launcher is set up in the same way with the
.bsp's/mods? If it is the same, we can probably bet on a
huge mod community for Fallout 3. The mod community was by
FAR the single best thing about Oblivion for PC. The work of
the modders added so many new dimensions to that game that
the PS3/360 versions can't even compare.

Why there isn't any demo.

I was watching the credits from the menu to see who did the
voices and I can't believe I didn't recognize Liam Neeson as
your daddy. And Stephen Russell (Garrett from the Thief
games) voices a bunch of characters, warming up for Thief
4.

Game is aweslime, the decapitations, dismemberments and gibs
from the VATS are all so arousing. And you can go back to
areas you were at weeks ago and the corpses and body parts
will still be strewn about. And of course you can eat them
if you have the right perk. *cums

this game is so much harder than i expected, i thought vats
would make it really easy but its really well implemented.
Anyone else keep running out of ammo?

it's probably great. i've played the two first games to
death.

i just barely met the reqs to play oblivion on my pc, but it
was playable.

is this game much 'heavier'? or the same as oblivion?

jumped the shark with oblivion.

I had a tough time maintaining a good supply of ammo for the
first few hours, but it gets easier if you correctly use the
character you built. IE- If you're not building up your
different gun skills, it's gonna take lots of ammo to kill
things, so you better have good bartering and speech so you
can buy lots of cheap ammo and talk your way out of
conflicts. I don't know how effective a melee-based approach
is in this game, but with all those fuckers with mini-guns
and rocker launchers, it seems it would be tough.

The Scrounging perk really helps out, you'll find more ammo
lying around, I got it around level 7 or something.

And when you kill somebody with the same weapon you have,
pick it up and check to see if it's in better shape than
yours, you'll get more damage out of it, less ammo wasted.
I'm too lazy to think of it sometimes.

After about 12 hours of playtime. This is one of the best
games I've ever played. I always loved Elder Scrolls for
it's ambition but it always lacked something that would stop
me from really getting into it. This thing has got me hooked
for hours and hours, so much to do, so much amazing detail
and background stuff. And the default difficulty is lovely.
Never too hard, never to easy. Top quality, wherever I
look.

I'm in love with this game.

It's Bethesda's redemption, I'm sorry for doubting. With
this quality and these gameplay mechanics, it feels more
like ''Deus Ex in a huge world'' or... gasp, ''Fallout in
3D'' than ''Oblivion with guns''.

It's really good.

I'm finding it hard to be the complete piece of evil shit I
wanted to be- I've done a few good deeds. Still, I murdered
the Overseer in the beginning (the girl was none to happy
about that), and at one point this shop keeper caught me
stealing from his safe and I had to cut his throat out
before he could run out and alert the whole town.

I killed the overseer too, though I think that's the last
time I ever lost karma. Did you reach the Paradise Falls
quest yet? That's about the most vile cretinous villaindom
I've seen. I dealt with the evil doers with extreme
prejudice, but their quest sounded kind of fun and REALLY
evil.

Nope not there yet... just doing a bunch of side quests at
the moment. I turned down my once chance for true evil when
some shady guy in Megaton asked me to detonate the warhead
in the middle of town. He didn't give me a good enough
reason to do it- plus that kind of evil really isn't my
style, I guess. I ended up snitching on him to the sheriff.

Oh yeah, that guy with the nice suit. I shot him in the face
right there in the restaurant. Instant karma.

I just beat the main quest. It is unbelievably short. Wow.
This is more of an observation than a complaint, because I
still have a lot to do on my current save, and I plan on
replaying the game as a dickhead afterwards. No shortage of
content, the main quest is hardly the meat of the game. It's
just that... I was at the credits before I even knew what
was happening. I thought I was just casually advancing the
story, not bringing it to a close.

hmm.. damn. That was always one of the biggest shortcomings
of oblivion, imo. the main storyline was WAY too short, and
had no clear indication of when it was going to end so it
was very easy to get really enthralled by it and beat the
entire game at lvl 3. I'm kind of disappointed to learn that
the system hasn't been changed for Fallout, but no software
dev has unlimited manpower/resources, so it was probably
either: go with a long and linear main story, or a short
main story with many, many side quests and alternate story
arcs.

I never did get around to completing the main Oblivion
quest, so I can't compare it. But yeah, it's not really a
big deal for me, it's the little stories that make up the
world at large that are the main appeal.

Mass Effect also had a really brief, but good, main story.
If it wasn't for the 1000 sidequests I did, the game would
have lasted me about 10 hours. I watched my cousin beat it
in one 5-6 hour sitting.

I only just figured out that there's flashlight on your
Pip-boy, and that you can alter the 3rd person camera to
look and feel like Dead Space, which feels alright and hides
the shitty animations. And the reason I was doing the main
quests was to get a really strong NPC follower I'd heard
about. And now that I have him, the dick kills enemies
before I can even see them, and I get no XP.

The main Oblivion quest was really short, and not very
difficult at all. I think the grey fox quest took me longer
to complete.

The funny thing about oblivion, was how generic the main
story was compared to the rest of the world. You could tell
where they put all their effort on, the story was secondary
to creating a lush atmosphere, and they delivered
practically better than in any other game I could think of.

Personally, I couldn't have been more excited that Bethesda
was making a post apocalyptic game.

and it seems like it's going to be vast if I carry on doing
all the side missions.

Wish I could have a bigger party in this game. I usually had
2 guys in Fallout 2, but I have gathered some pretty huge
groups in Fallout 1.

I actually didn't even get Dogmeat in this game. Reminds me
of when I first played Zelda OoT, I beat the game without
ever managing to get the horse.

I'm a big big fan of the first two games. I think i've
played through fallout 2 at least 4 times in my life. I
played morrowind and liked it, but i didn't care too much
about oblivion, so i was extremely anxious about this one.

Got it for christmas, and i have to admit it's pretty damn
good. It still has an oblivion feel to it, but it's great in
it's own respect. Good job!

Games are a fun waste of time in your parents basement.
Ophecks, can you start moderating xltronic properly? I
thought you were a good laugh ages ago but now you seem to
be using this music forum as a gaming thing?

Yeah I really don't care about electronic music anymore, it
was a phase that I'm long done with. I still like the people
here though, even you, and while most of my posts aren't
actually gaming related, and I don't start half the gaming
topics, the handful of gaming topics that I do start are
pretty popular.

Of course I'm sure you know that if I was to suddenly begin
moderating Xltronic with true aplomb, I'd undoubtedly have
to ban you, meanwhile all the gaming topics woudl stay. ^_^
