it is true though that there are people that get way too overexcited about releases, but they're not on here. Just that statement coming from one man sounds more like an arrogant flame, rather than someone's opinion. Hounestly, does fanboism just annoy you? Have you ever tried ignoring it instead of planning an most likely to fail attempt on telling us how to live our lifes.

The flaming it bit is "a bit of fun", however pathetic that may be, and I'd agree with you. The flaming post was inspired by the first couple of posts in this thread supposedly about "who is still making good music" coming up with names that have been around for about 5 years tops and, IN MY OPINION, represent the worst aspects of shitty music, ie Team Bellend (fuck me, try listening to Knaptic Relapse mjore than three times without wanting to have an aural enema) or king of The Net Labels Proem, or fucking Chris "a bit too late to the party but fair play for trying, some of the younger kids won't spot your plagarism" Clark. ALL CLASSICS.
I'm not trying to tell you how to live your lives, what's that cliche, my example may only serve as a warning how not to live your life, or something like that. But I'll defend my right to say rash, hard to justify, baseless, text based lashings out at no one in paticular if it makes me happy. I deserve to be happy.

"it is true though that there are people that get way too overexcited about releases"----> I think it's good to get excited about music. I'm trying to re-kindle my excitement for "music" in general these days, because things are grey enough in life as it is without a pleasure like music being wrecked by cynicism. It's still good to be discerning about what's good and what isn't, but for god's sake, what's wrong with a bit of passion and wide-eyed wonder?

It's obvious what is good and bad about wide eyed wonder. It's great to get excited about music and life isn't allways grey.
The miss-placed passion I think dog_belch is talking about is for the formulaic, non-expressive shite that people pump out by the bucket loads.

Well exactly, I think some people are doing themselves doing a disservice going "oooh, more stuff that sounds a bit like a lot of other stuff... with no reason for existing other than filling silence and allowing the 'artist' to say "Yes I had a record on 43843gp-MAX -Records... YES!!!!!!! WHERE DO I ORDER?!??!!"
If you want to hear something that makes me SHIT MY PANTS and say "Electronic music produced today still has the power to move, move, move any mountain" then check out "Dob Nop" by the mighty Jaffa Kid.

I thinks it's unfortunate that some people are self-conscious enough about their taste to proclaim themselves the arbiters of quality, qualified to tell other people they're ''misplacing'' their passion... and in a medium as subjective as music, no less.
No big deal to me, because I have no problem just completely tuning out music that sounds like ''formulaic, non-expressive shite'' to me, plus I think self-conscious music fans spice up messageboards and we couldn't do without them.
Plus I try to tell myself that people will listen to their Favorite Derivative Artist and then explore their roots and hopefully gain some context and knowledge and maybe some taste. Not everybody will, but some might and many do. Derivative Artists clumsily do their part to keep legacies alive.

Yeah, you're right. It's just sometimes difficult for good tracks to move me in the way they once did; I'm trying to re-ignite the responses I used to experience with great music. I'm not defending boring, derivative IDM at all; I've just found that a critical, angry fixation on rubbish music can negatively affect the experience of listening to worthwhile stuff. That's probably not how it works with most people by any means, but perhaps one or two people will relate...

It's a fine line between voicing your opinion, making it a bit provocative to spice up a largely very fucking torpid messageboard (ooops, there I go again) and proclaiming yourself the arbiter of all musical taste. I wish Ophecks good luck on his Quest to be the World's Youngest Music Bore. You've already reached Level 12,434,943,903,439 (reach hidden level by unearthing old Foghat bootleg)

Cute, but quips like the ''my dad can beat up your dad'' gobbledygook up there are neither good natured ribbing nor shrewd conversation sparking. But I can say I generally enjoy your ''provocations'' though. Genuinely!

That's usually always the case. Certain people will post in threads with their standard "in your face, if you don't like it suck my dick" attitudes, and then once other people call them trolls or flamers they back off and say "Hey, it's good natured ribbing!" Personally I don't see why a music discussion has to be so in your face, almost to the point of insulting all the time.

That's usually always the case. Certain people will post in threads with their standard "why can't everyone just be really nice to each other and say nothing in particular, ideally just link to YouTube vids or Boomkat pages, if you have to type sentences just use words of one or two syllables as I have trouble understanding... anything" boring attitude, and then once other people call them bores, or nobbers, or annoying turds they get angry and moan about it for weeks on end, across 1,000 different posts saying "Why do I get called a twat everytime I remember to log in once a week just to fucking moan about people calling me a twat ad absurdum" Personally I don't see why a music discussion has to be so tiresome, almost to the point of death all the time.

It's called general respect for other people of the human race. Different people have different levels of experience with things. Someone might post something on here about a band they've just heard and they're really excited about it because they think it's quality music, but to you it might be a band you knew about 10 years ago. Why would you act like some asshole to that person then, just because to you it's not interesting? If you're not interested in the thread, you don't really have to be an asshole to the person, you can simply just ignore the thread. I just find it pretty stupid when someone posts something like was posted in the Joy Division thread, and some asshole like you who disagrees with the opinion comes along with your arrogant piece of shit attitude and tears into the person. The guy was just asking what was so special about Joy Division because he couldn't really get into it. I guess I don't really see why that calls for some aggressive dumbass remark. But maybe we're coming from different worlds. Maybe you were beat up all the time in school and uses the internet to express your frustration, who knows.

to the funkmaster: not wishing to get involved in this web based drama but if somebody skimmed over all of your depressingly naive and long winded posts and only actually read the words "i" and "like" and "shit" and "and" and "asshole" (all culled from your last post)
then that would not give a very clear picture of what you were trying to say.
now - if said somebody were to do this with such a powerful, original and beautiful work of art as say, er joy division's Closer Lp....

That bloody website hadn't been updated since 2005 until ONE day before the "launch" of the CD. Maybe two or three more copies have escaped from the vaults of other online shopping websites, who knows; I mean, no matter how dire you think the music may be, if they've managed to shift over 1000 copies of that Oren Marshall's 1 hour tuba-and-effects-pedal improvisation CD, surely anything is possible?
