going to start making IDM

you dont understand, im talking about the motivation here.
if the motivation is to make subliminal "shit" and idm -
then there is quite a good chance that you will fail
miserably at both. why dont you aim at making good music
instead of making music that will qualify in a genre.

but if you will actually accomplish an idm album that
someone would give a shit about, ill eat my words.
understand the genre, the genre is electronic music or
electronica - idm is something (in my head at least) that
only the very best electronic musicians can qualify their
music as.

i have been messing around with techno/electronica for
almost 3 years...i came up with some sick IDM sounding songs
after a while, and decided to start making some more tracks
that sounded like that
unfourtunately, my computer crashed shortly thereafter, and
so NOW i am able to try to make the music
the idea about getting the subliminal messages and such in
it is just an idea
i just want to get some pictures in the music...something at
the end of a track or something
ive been making music like this for years, and NOW i have
the time and the resources to make it
i dont know why you seem to have a problem with this
hahaha

its not subliminal if you have to use a program to figure
out whats going on

that shit has to fuck with your brain

also it'll just sound like noise

A subliminal message is defined as a signal or message
embedded in another object, designed to pass below the
normal limits of perception

thats what im going for

Download fruityloops and a bunch of VSTs. Then make music to
your heart's content.

i used to use fruity loops...its too..controlled
i want to experiment with all different sounds, not just the
ones they give me

... that's why I mentioned the VSTs. Hardly anyone uses the
FL presets. On the control front, it's as controlled or
uncontrolled as you wish it to be.

my music page ... all ditties and sketches I made using
Fruityloops and VSTs.

You are older than me by 4 days.

Why are you so clueless? I think the immigration grew me up
faster or something.

However, you should probably just jump ahead and start
learning Reaktor and Ableton Live. You master those, and
only sky's the limit. If you have enough imagination, you
can be the next AFX.

make music with your ass if it works... no need for tips!
You can record stuff and edit it. Use a xylophone and a
beeper... tools dont make the difference. Ideas &
creativity do!

their givin you a hard time, but dont set out to make music
for a certain label of genre or w/e, just make what you
think sounds good and the rest will come, you could end up
making industrial spazzcore funk stank, as long as its
something you like...

program wise, reason, reaktor, ableton live, etc. if your
going for some raw sounds your gonna wanna find some brutal
VST's to get more pounding sound. izotope's trash is a good
thing to mess around with.

yeah thats the point. Just create, let what other people
define it as be the result not the purpose/aim.

Sorta like saying "Im gunna make poo, then going and eating
food. We eat for the eating" to roughly quote banksy.

so get your lazy ass out in the field and record your own
samples. it's your mind that is too controlled, not FL

ask "who's impakt ?" now, btw

i made a wicked track entirely from silence. I changed the
EQ, put some phaser and tremolo on it, then i put some mad
delay on a in in reverse on a seperate track on top. It
sounded awesome. Bit quiet though.

i sampled the static from a controller and prosessed the
sounds. you dont like it, you think it should be more r 'n b
right? something more for the ladies? i thought you
understood but you are just like the rest. you will pay.

congratulations on choosing to make IDM. you will find it
stimulating and rewarding when writing music as part of the
IDM movement, which is vastly superior intellectually,
emotionally and technically to all other musical genres.

I almost never split my music to genres. It's usually three
main groups:
Good
Bad
Background music (Good but meh)

Really rarely it's FUCKING AWESOME, but that's a subgenre of
"good" and sometimes it's EW WTF IS THIS SHIT, which is a
subgenre of "bad".
"Hey this sounds like good elevator music" is a subgenre of
"good but meh".
