drukqs is incredible, but you don't have to stress how
amazing something is by saying its better than everything
else.

i'm not one for making rash statements but i think the only
reason you (kerz) don't like autechre is because you can't
get into the rhythm and groove instantly. it's easy to find
that in drukqs, so a first listen will generally have you
more interested. autechre is like a fine wine, yeah i said
it.

great way to start off at xltronic, dickhole.

I remember way back when I downloaded a leaked version of
Drukqs and half of it was Flashbulb tracks, mistagged. True
story.

I loved Drukqs, it was definitely the soundtrack of the fall
of 2001 for me. A real time capsule album. I still think
it's a great grab-bag of sounds. Wails.

The piano tracks bring back 9/11 for me. Cheezy, but true.

Some of you are letting your opinion manifest itself into
what you believe as fact. OK so you love drukqs for its
avant garde IDM and programmed drill/piano pieces. Great!
guess what? I love teh Analords, some people think Peter
Andre is the shit [fuckheads]. Anyway, don't present opinion
as fact and I think people may be more open to discussion.

Yo, thats my 2c.

How is everyone?

PS: Fact: Drukqs = Weak release. :P

I love Drukqs. It's so much better than the entire output of
The Righteous Brothers.

i like drukqs and agree it's the best aphex twin album.
autechre are my favorite though. there later work is quite
challenging to listen to, but confield and untilted are
masterpieces but so is druqks. one can love both. i also
like sonic youth, zao and pink floyd. i also like chubby
checker's "the twist"

i'm a massive rdj fanbot but drukqs is the one i listen to
least cos the beats are too tinny, and it's just way to
contrived i reckon.

the analords flow a lot more and have that aphex
melody/beats driving thing that i love and i get more of
asense that he got lost in his own tunes where drukqs sounds
forced.

for drill i go for big load/hard nrmal daddy/go plastic any
day...drukqs not got a patch on them. ae is incomparible so
enough of that shit.

love the piano stuff on drukqs and i love individual tracks
like mt st whatever, and mettphace but as an album i
personally find it tedious.

also... note how very few rdj sets have drukqs material but
loads of them have stuff from nearly every other
release..that reflects what i feel about it... sort of

lmao @ raged ppl.

It was a personal opinion about drukqs and Autechre's
lastest works, as I said.

"i'm not one for making rash statements but i think the
only
reason you (kerz) don't like autechre is because you can't
get into the rhythm and groove instantly."

No and nope. Its not a problem about "getting or not getting
it", but again, as I said, i don't like that "rhythm or
groove" that Autechre creates using those suppa avantgarde
methods. Gets old to fast imo.

Thanks.

"It was a personal opinion about drukqs and Autechre's
lastest works, as I said. "

you gave the impression that your opinion is a fact though,
that's what upset people :)

i agree autechre can get old fast, but i don't think this
will happen with untilted..it's just different to their
previous work.

also, i think drukqs is pretty outdated too..it was just a
highmark at some point when drill was popular but it didn't
turn into anything really. analogue is where it's at :)

hallmark when drill was popular?

personally, i think drukqs fuking killed the genre

no one can mesh melodies with drill better than drukqs

once that ablum came out it's like, thats it,,,game over,
no one's gonna top that. might as well stop making drill
altogether.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2006-06-30 08:09 [#01929838]
Points: 50073 Status: Moderator

yeah..when drukqs came out, that was that from drill and
bass. there were people trying to do more of that but
nothing came close to drukqs.

offline KEYFUMBLER from DUBLIN (Ireland) on 2006-06-30 08:55 [#01929860]

jesus i don't see it. big loada, hnd and go plastic were way
before drukqs and are drill before the "genre" was even
realised. Drukqs came on top of it, and has nowhere near the
depth. its all over the shop and as clanky as fuck. ain't
you guys heard HAB? wellllllll before drukqs and at the peak
of rdj's drillyness. now we have Analord's - Xmd5a for
example that's go so much more going for it than most tracks
on drukqs.

that's what I thought at the beginning too.

I can agree that Autechre get old fast, but only stuff up
until Confield. The only albums I've listened to as many
times as to Confield, Draft and Untilted is Delarosa &
Asora's Agony Pt1 and Drukqs actually.

*Gasp at Kirlian Selections - It's too plain and obvious,
man. Not the same league.

"..... Including the most over-rated piece
of crap that is Autreche, specially the lastest work
(Confield, Draft 7.30 and Untitled). ...

To conclude, I hope RDJ releases something with the mood and

quality of Druqks in the future. "

Ae's Untilted is about the only album of it's kind I can put
on in the car and actually be bothered to 'listen'
to..rather than treat as background noise like a lot of
other electronic music. Anything that imparts this on me
tells me it must be good and that you are talking out of
your pie hole.

That said, I agree that Druqks is as good.

I agree with KEYFUMBLER about drukqs. Go plastic has some
awesom effects. No matter what though, aphex always has some
wiz bang suprises in his music. The "how'd he do that?" The
music that blew my mind from aphex the most is bouncing
ball, nanou, and most of all Windowlicker. Windowlicker made
me think he wasn't human for a while. Favorites from drukqs
are Mt saint Micheals (the girl voice part)...the piano
tracks especially avril 14.
I like lots of bits from drukqs though. I don't seem to play
them much though. Maybe its the tinny thing.

I grabbed the limited edition version of the vinyl box set,
the heavyweight higher quality vinyl pressing.... so sweet,
really made me look at Drukqs a bit differently to be
honest. Its a good album, I really enjoy it a lot, I think I
like Analord better though as far as new stuff goes..... ive
always been a fan of his older stuff though.... I love old
AFX.. so great.
