correct me if im wrong but those are all eps?
yeah, sure, making orange things and that hungarian one are different. and ofcourse you can differ most of the albums, but the difference is minimal..for example, if you took one track from every of his albums and put them all together you'd still get a cohesive album. the thing why we all see it different is because those who say it all sounds alike don't listen to it much, therfore that observation, it's the same with every genre really. the thing is why i don't listen to it much. it's because after hearing like 5 albums i had enough of it because it wasn't going anywhere..i couldn't hear any progression in his music and that just doesn't interest me usually.

After three years of listening to VSnares at least once a month, I must say that Funk's main problem is the complete lack of talent. He's a hard working man with cool ideas once in a while, but he will never make a groundbreaking album just because he's not a blessed man. Just an average Joe who has the determination.
Even Rossz after a few listenings feels too much technological and lifeless (and let's be honest - quite kitsch). And when you hear how classical music was treated by Murcof there are little chances you'll want to listen to Rossz again soon.
In other words, what Swears said: where's the heart?

Also, please tell me, how the hell after all these years he can still make beats like the one from Plunging Hornets (Cavalcade) at 1:17 which is yet another exact copy of his break attack. Then same thing at 2:20. I think I would feel physical pain incorporating same stuff to every third of my songs.

i wouldn't say he's got no talent. not at all. it'd be nice if he focused on quality instead of quantity though.

v snares strikes me as a self indulgent IDM nerd repeatedly flexing his IDM muscle. kinda like the electronic version of Tool or Primus. He sounds so much like himself that it all sounds the same. does that even make sense?

Vsnares is IDM influenced by other IDM. All the original Warp artists where into d'n'b, ambient, techno, funk, etc, etc, Vsnares just sounds like someone who started listening to music in 1996. (I know he probably isn't) There's no real character to his stuff. I bet Rephlex gets dozens of demos every day along similar lines.
I really belive that the time you live in shapes the music you make. Without the warm afterglow of rave,('93-'97) Is electronica really going anywhere?

Those artists are in a lot of ways, really just repeating themselves now. If you look at Team Doyobi, they're one of the most interesting acts out there, because they've limited themselves to old technology like the Amiga 500 and really explored the possibilties of what they can do with it. So they've managed to stay fresh by rejecting a lot of the sloppy eclecticism of the late 90's, and by staying away from cliches like breakbeats and "lush" pads.

When I listen to his songs, pre RENOISE (like when he was using .MEDs) I can totally see a guy sitting in front of a frosted window in a warm room. He is a really fucking good tracker, with a few tricks up his sleeve.
Too me besides the crazy songs, I listen to it from a 9 year tracking geeks perspective (like most fans). On top of that he is really bringing life back to a scene that crumbled to wav compression technology.
I`m a fan of Vsnares for the fact that he tracks, is one of the few great Canadian Industrial (aggressive electronic) acts (Skinny Puppy) and the guy is really cool to his fans.
I like Squarepusher for the awesome song writing mixed with the complex drums, not to say that snares isn`t a good song writer, but Tom really has Arron in the "Method to the Mayhem" department...

Given what you know of tracking technology, when I see Snaresy in a performance video turning lots of knobs and shit, do the knobs actually do anything or is it just for show?

seeing vsnare and squarepusher live equal amount s of times i find them very different performers. VSnares looks great towering over the cd mixer like soem sort of rebel predator big brother but tom's much more musician and has pushed the bass in drum n bass to its ultimate conclusion and keeps on doing it.
ever hear "journey to redham", "cmon my selctor", "tetra sync", "beep street" live? just absolutely mindblowing
