"Dutch Oven" is English for farting under the bed clothes.

And believe me, you don't want to find out what a "dutch
handshake" is in prison.

Translussion - Life/Don't be afraid of Evolution

Warp's bio of it is rather misleading, "...It was
essentially overlooked on release but is worth a closer
look." There's a reason it was overlooked; It's shite, and
even most people who treat Drexciya with the same regard as
the people who bought Smojphace do Aphex Twin, slated it.

Thankfully I only bought the EP (without hearing it) and
it's absolute junk. A great example of something selling
based on the artist's name/history. There is no doubt that
if you or I had sent these tracks in to labels, not even
Mego would have released it.

lol

there are songs i dont like there, but it's good imo, takes
time to click but it was meant to be different in
mood/production/style and it shows, it's some of the
weridest electro-techno i ever heard

and since when people who like all an artist output are a
reference when it comes to the new of stuff of said artist,
specificaly when it is meant to be different to the old
stuf??

you are, off course, allowed to dislike it, but you're wrong
saying it's shit ;-)

"and since when people who like all an artist output are a
reference when it comes to the new of stuff of said artist,

specificaly when it is meant to be different to the old
stuf?? "

The point I was making wasn't that it was a different
direction, so it upset the fans of their earlier work. It
was more the fact that even the hardcore Drexciya fanboys
(and there are a lot of them, who think anything they do is
great, a lot like people who think just because a release is
by Aphex, it's automatically gold), tended to recieve it
badly. By and large, people who didn't like Drexcyia's old
stuff didn't like this, either.

So, back to my original point, even if you and some other
people like it, the main reason Translussion - Life (and the
associated EP) were "overlooked" is that a lot of people
didn't like it and even more read/heard from word of mouth
how poor a lot of people thought it was. It wasn't for a
reason that was nothing to do with the music, eg overlooked
due to it coming out the same month as a new BoC and Ae and
Aphex and Squarepusher album all came out, or anything like
that.

Anyway, glad you like it, you can buy my copy of the EP once
it's worth something, if you like :)

I bought a ray kieth record for someone once, but it turned
out to be such garbage that I couldnt bear to give it to
them, so I gave them a good one from my collection, and now
I cant seem to throw it out
