"oink staff are quite possibly the most intollerant people
on
the planet. their rules are just ridiculous and they enforce

them like little hitlers. no room for honest mistakes. vlari

got it right.
keep your head down, don't let your ratio get too far in the

red and don't ever, ever ever use the forums. if you
use the forums you get banned. you only have to say one
wrong thing or choose the wrong avatar or post on a day with

an e in it and you're out. i have 7 invites. "

Are we even talking about the same Oink.me.uk? The
moderators are actually very lenient, the only people who
they dont have tolerance for are the leechers who join and
dont even read the FAQ. I've invited some people from SLSK
before and they quickly got banned because they simply dont
know how to use bittorrent and fucked their ratios over
pretty quickly. The community is actually very good and they
have shitloads of electronic music, infact its the only
tracker that actually has an IDM category.

oinks is surprisingly liberal in comparison with other music
trackers (most notably pedros)

its really for the best though, in the end people are either
forced to supply high quality information or send/receive
none at all

it barely works, and it's not a distributed p2p system.

it's fucking dreadful.

i used to think the variety of stuff available there was
great, but it's not any more. and the variety of stuff on
OiNK is better than it ever was on slsk, and it's all in
192kbit mp3 or higher.

so you can shove your slsk up your i-don't-know

pops out, i retry 10 minutes later and so on

Can anyone offer me an invite too please? I've been after
one for a while.
In return I can give an invite to the equally exclusive
www.torrentleech.org
It's the best torrent tracker I've ever used. Not great for
music, but awesome for everything else.
They're currently posting all 250 dvds from the imdb top 250

A question on OINK. How do I Seed the torrent I'm
downloading?? I thought this was automatic but it's not. And
I want to be able to share and seed as much as I can. Any
help will be greatly appreciate it :)

either it's picking up, or there aren't any other leechers
this is oink: more seeders than leechers

online big from lsg on 2006-03-22 07:16 [#01865000]

and be sure your firewall or router settings are correct,
the torrents will have to be able to connect to you, or
something, look it up with 'port forwarding' or on oink:
"stoopid" or "clever"

Thnx a lot Big, you have been very helpful. I guess I need
to spend this week reading all about them :/ Another thing
is that my Share Ratio is at 0.00 :( Should be because I
sign-up just today and just stared to download from a
torrent???

offline shrudy on 2006-03-23 03:49 [#01865608]

yeah, and the stats do not update immediately.

oinks is nice, but maintaining a decent ratio is not always
easy. often you will probably have to jump on a new torrent
which you suspect will become popular even if you don't want
the file itself in order to be able to seed as much back as
you can. myself, i got lucky though because they had a 10
day treat during christmas during which they allowed you to
download as much as you wanted to without counting it
towards your ratio. i got some 100 gigs during that time,
and have been uploading all those albums ever since, i've
got about 125 gigs of credit to spend before i get to an
even ratio. so, fight for a good ratio until xmas, (i know
it's a long time) and then you can go on a spree (i suspect
they will do it again as it was immensely popular)

oh, and i have seven invites, email me and we can talk, i
can't give them out too casually as they are harsh on ppl
who invite subpar users.

True, you have to be very patient with slsk. I have no idea
why the new search engine from the beta client haven't been
incorporated in the classic version yet.
