why? because I study synthesis at school? I actually can't
stand academia, and can't wait to graduate.

and no, he didnt studied it at school. he studied
art/design. He learned about synthesis etc on his own time,
getting books from libraries, and just teaching himself.
pretty damn impressive.

I admit, he does seem to try to make himself sound smart,
but it might actually be that he is extremely smart, and is
just answering questions honestly, because he's so excited
about what he does, and so he rambles about what hes
doing.

i dont know.

either way, I love his production. musically, it could
develop more/better but I really only listen to him for ear
candy/inspiration. his production is incredibly detailed and
unique.

that last part didnt come out right I dont think. kinda
sounds like I listen to it just because of the production. I
do like his tracks a lot... I dont think he's perfect, but I
do think hes very good. but his production > his musicality.

its good to listen to loud and go nuts

I don't know why he uses 8 computers for his stuff but that
doesn't matter; it's very interesting. Some of it. I do find
that the sounds he uses get very tiring after a while,
though.

every album i've ever tried i didn't like
except this new one : Cautella
and i don't know why i like it and not the others.....

but i still feel he's the neo-JohnCage or a Phillipe Glass
on PCP
and i don't enjoy that stuff either
good thing he played Bach on classical piano so he could
decide to totally ignore anything he might have learned
melodically

Different computers networked to develop different parts of
the sounds... now that software is more developed, its not
as necessary for him to have so many.

Still:
1 computer as master sequencer and midi patchbay
1 computer as router and midi compiler for PCs
1 computer as router and midi compiler for Macs
1 PC for signal generating and processing
1 PC for sample playback and streaming from disk
1 Mac for signal generating and processing
1 Mac for sample playback and streaming from disk
1 computer to recieve all audio data and master tracks.

He could just use a couple computers for all this
stuff, but they would become less reliable as more audio
data is being thrown around, and his music traditionally has
a massive amount of audio data being thrown around.
