i've downloaded every IDM cd,

I find that hard to believe! LOL!

so they must
not be good, since i don't have it.

Errrrm, is this sarcasm? ;-)

are they like NIN?

If they are then I'm just off to buy everything they've ever
done....

I only know it from Garbage...most of my CDs are in an attic
in Wales now, but I'm 99.9% sure Tri Repetae as I know it
(Englander) doesn't have this one on it...

I've never liked Vletrmx21. That's right. You heard me.
Perhaps.. I haven't listened to it enough.. to be honest,
tracks I know I'll love I warm to immediately, and on first
listen I felt completely let-down.. given the amount of hype
it gets.

lol

I've been making my disliking for that track known for a
while now, I was just waiting for that to happen.

i don't really like it. It's okay i guess... but...

well... it sounds a little too spooky for me. Last
day on earth would be a good title, because it sounds
so dark and so dramatic and so
creepy... it's just too much. It could have been an intro or
outro on a Marilyn Manson album.

I think rdj's 'rhubarb' is comparible, but that track is so
much more subtle, leaves much more room for interpretation.
Rhubarb could be the perfect soundtrack for any day.

?!?!

Hm, we dislike for different reasons entirely surrounded. I
don't like it because the melody is just flat, there is
nothing to it...

what do you think of rhubarb then? :-)
(saw2, cd1, trk3)... i'm curious.

So you find vletrmx... boring? It is kinda strange i
guess... 2 people can dislike a song for exactly the
opposite reasons.

surrounded > i don't find it THAT dark... [spots] or
[tassels] from SAWII are much darker! : )

and it's too good to be on a Marilyn Manson album i think
(though i liked Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical
Animals).

It was on Garbage FIRST, its seems really stupid to put
anvil vapre and Garbage on the end of Tri Repetae; but its
for america so who cares..

"[spots] or [tassels]"

i have NO idea what you're talking about ;-) I usually just
refer to those songs as "the 7th song on the 2nd disc" or
"the 9th song on the 1st disc"... you know, i never bothered
to memorise those titles people came up with.

But anyway... it's not that i have a problem with dark
stuff... it's just that vletrmx is so dark it sounds almost
like a parody (to my ears anyway). Like if it were used in a
horror-movie... it wouldn't be a classy horror like The
Ring, but some bad b-movie :-p

The song is too one-dimensional. I don't really hate it, but
it doesn't give me any of the great emotions described in
this thread.

yeah, its doesnt really surprise me..its a very simple
song..
its interesting how a lot of the most powerful songs are
also really simple..
like squarepusher's 'my sound'
or a silver mt zion's '13 angels standing guard round the
side of your bed'
and radiohead's 'true love waits'

just goes to show that complexity doesnt nessisarily
increase the impact of a song...usually the opposite, in
fact

Tri Rep is a friggin masterpiece. Still my favorite
Autechre, with Confield in a close second...

How great is the track Eutow? I can never get enough. I
use that one to initiate the electronic noobs. Warm fuzzy
walls of synth...mmmmm...

Agree 100% (I thought rhubard meant donkey rhubard!!)

SAW2 CD? TRK? is how I've always written it...

Icewaves and titsworth (and I thought my name was
sillyenough!) ;-) We are obviously of a like mind on the
remix...it's almost impossible to produce a remix that
people love as much if not more than the original....this
one's up there with Reload's "On" remix IMO...

One of my favorite ae tracks. Why didn't they make more
tracks like this one.
They should have made their own SAW II!

They stuck the Garbage and Anvil Vapre on the US release
becuase you can't buy them here. I makes complete sense to
me. It's like the RDJ Album. the US release has the
Girl/Boy EP on it. I prefer the originals though...

get over it. great track but plenty of idm artists do epic
dark ambient pieces, and autechre weren't first.

krautrock (notably faust) and bowie/eno in the early 70s
come to mind... idm artists are obviously influenced by 70s
and 80s ambient synth music, and not to say vletrmx21 isn't
very autechre style, but it's clearly derivative of much
older music as well as other idm artists (rdj's ambient
work, the orb, hell even autechre's earlier albums)

Which reminds me, on "Surfing On Sine Waves" the US
version's got two extra tracks I've NEVER EVEN HEARD OF
BEFORE!!! Now that's just not fair... :-(
