these pictures have some sort of sexuality clash going on
with your avatar.

who is the real Hanal? The dancing little bummer boy, or the
one with a hd chock-a-block with semi naked fanny?

Answers on a postcard, to the usual address please.

I'll hijack this thread by asking the dear xltronic forum
members whether anyone's a member of
http://www.theoccult.bz, and could offer me an invite?

(don't we all love the guy on the pic with the cape? you
can't have a site devoted to the occult without someone
dressed as a jedi)

i tried searching for "xltronic +magick", because i have
some vague memory of someone talking about that, but i only
found a topic about Hecate's music.

then i tried "xltronic +mystisicm" and found nothing,
"xltronic +occult" and found a topic called occult techno,
and finally "xltronic +religion" and this topic popped up at
the top.

scientology, eh? are you joking, or is it true? if so, what
attracted you to join?

i'm confused about this one

2.Religion convinces individuals that they are not the
basis
of their own existence.

Seriously? I think that either refers some kind of idealism,
or the pre Descartian philosophy. Hans Kueng wrote a whole
book about it

offline cygnus from nowhere and everyplace on 2010-06-01 22:34 [#02382214]

i think it is confusing because if i am the basis of my own
existence then i must have had selective power when it comes
to the nature and form of my existence. i may not have
wanted to choose a human body, i may not have chosen to
exist at all. i was not offered a catalogue of things to
exist as, so something else must have chosen for me

offline cygnus from nowhere and everyplace on 2010-06-01 22:37 [#02382215]

and therefore i would not be the basis of my own existence.
right? maybe i am not totally clear on what it means still

I probably got this from some kind of marxist webpage.
'Basis of your own existence' means that you, or better, the
whole humanity produces the goods to survive. In the liberal
philosophy we have the concept of the 'invisible hand of the
market' which is basiclly a metaphysical concept, because
this 'invisible hand' or 'invisible force' could as well be
god. This is what Karl Marx describes as 'commodity fetish'
wich refers to a concept by Ludig Feuerbach. I don't know if
you understand what i mean, probably not, if you are not
familiar with marxist philosophy.

I don't really like Dawkins. His criticism of religion is
simplistic compared to this of Feuerbach and Marx

thanks for that, cygnus Sam Harris is an absolute legend and
one of the best speakers and thinkers today if you ask me.

in defense of Dawkins, I think how he concluded his talk
with McG is no less effective and in many ways as powerful
as any form of reasoning Harris employs.

for me, the religion vs science debate is still absolutely
engrossing thanks to these two fascinating characters, among
many others.

if there is a true word of god, by proxy any interpretation
by man is corrupt.
