"he main reason why I was hated in this messageboard was my
bad english"

see, that isn't entirely true :)
but i still don't see why some people had to be mean to you.

well, i don't know why be mean in general really.

Tolstoyed: me too.

Bob: Also and not only...

I just hate it when people have some sort of superiority
complex. Even more so on a messageboard.

What gives people the right to act like that in the first
place?
The only person I have ever laid into here was Redrum, in
defence of Tridenti. I am a very tolerant person, but he
really fucks me off now as a result of his atitude towards
Tridenti.

you're too delicate. come on.

bob : Dog_belch seems to have turned into a cunt
lately.

- do you really think so ? i would say that about a few
months ago when he was a mod. but currently i can say he's
one of the most kind xlters i know.

you obviously don't read all of his posts. he can be very
nice and sweet one day, and the next day he "hates you" and
spends 150 words explaining why he thinks you're an idiot.

not that it makes any difference, it's only the internet.

Bob anyway after I got the redrum's gmail address I chatted
much with him, I can't say he likes me completely but he
started to consider me. Well, I'll continue to say
tolstoyed's behavior is still the best and the most
appreciated in this MB in my opinion.

well, you're right: i don't read all of them and it is the
internet.

but what you've said about him you can say about many
posters here. we all have good and bad days.

also, it's better to say something straight as e.g. d_b does
- than to hide what you really feel/think about someone
behind malicious remarks.

all i can say is that dog belch is definitely one of the
handful people around here that i would like to meet in
person :)

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Dog_belch in the
slightest. He is one of the better people round here, but
sometimes I think he can lay into people a bit much.

But like I said, maybe thats just me.

tridenti's broken and confused english was the only good
thing that came with his arrival. some of his posts were, as
a result of this, pure hilarity, and even injected some life
(read: wackyness), with people repeating his weird phrases,
into the board.

The rate at which he posted was all anybody had a problem
with.

Aside from tridenti, bob made the point that there's a
person behind every username, and that this is something i
need to come to terms with in order to stop being a prick...

What I would say is that it's the internet, don't take
things so seriously, especially personal insults. There is a
phonomenon much studied in psychology at the time of the
advent of the telephone, where it was observed that people
say things over the phone they wouldn't dare say to
someone's face.

The internet effects peoples' personalities much more
drastically in this very way, since we don't even have to
hear the other respond immediately, and just read words.

This is the communicative medium furthest removed from
normal day-to-day discourse, and that should be noticed and
one thing taken away from the observation:

Don't take it so seriously.

But a few other people have mentioned Dog_belch in this

Oh come on! I never continually go on at anyone, who cares
anyway what I say? The worst thing I said lately was to
i_x_ten, but that was deliberately over the top and mean, so
mean I that I obviously didn't really mean it. Who
does really mean anything in the sordid, undignified
world of "Internet put downs". It's ugly. But it's funny at
the time. Then quickly not so much.

I think i_x_ten can be incredibly annoying, negative, and
willfully dimwitted but, at the same time, like anyone, I do
respect he is a person behind the persona. Look how I
haven't chimed in in his "Join my netlabel" thread, see the
restraint I've employed, all the things I could have
said, the self sacrfice I have displayed!

Tridenti upset people when he was first here, not because of
his poor english (which he has improved on incredibly and
needs applauding for) but the way he posted 200 posts a day
that just had " :D " or " . " in them. That's nothing to do
with language, that's being an upbeat troll. He will admit
himself he didn't "get" XLT at first, but now, I believe, he
is a valuable part of XLT culture.

I'm sorry if I've upset you Bob, I don't wish to contribute
to the bad side of XLT, I only try to make it better. But
like a young Darth Vader, I care a bit TOO much and end up
destroying everything. But I am willing to change, oh yes,
relax... and breathe.

Hmm, hadn't noticed that. Thanks - although I've moved out

Like I said, perhaps I've just been picking up on the
negative posts, which funnily enough I recall being mainly
directed at i_x_ten.

I don't see you as Darth Vader, he was more machine than
human. I have never met you in real life, so am unable to
judge your man/machine ratio as a result.

I agree that "internet put downs" are funny though, but not
if it is a continuous assault on a person, i.e. Tridenti. As
far as I could see, that was bullying.

Perhaps if I hadn't just given up smoking, I wouldn't have
gone on this rampage? Who knows...
------------------------------------
Anyway, on a lighter note:

you are all cunts, and I hope you die sooner rather than
later.

There was a particularly unpleasant period a few months
ago.

Age has something to do with it, too. Nobody wants to hear
"student" humour (or in many cases, even their opinions) so
I suppose I have to learn to accept that. It doesn't matter,
I still get to read good stuff about new releases. You learn
to ignore insults.

Speaking of food. I tend to be a sucker for hot sauce.

That aside i am glad Dog_Belch lashes out at people
sometimes. Hes the most qualified person to do it. I could
try but we'd get a sentence that wouldnt utilize the english
language so eloquently. Often times he says things that are
on alot of peoples minds and sometimes crummy behavior from
the targets of his posts warrent the "attack" if you will.

Just my opinion.

I gotta admit that we have a great mix of people here at
this board. If some sort of XLT meetup actually happened
that'd be great. Everyone brings something to the table.

I love the fact that certain people irk me. It keeps this
place alive! Variety is certainly ace!

*pours brown sauce on thread*
