i dunno, Shawshank isn't absolutely focused on plot, but it
isn't the first movie that would jump to mind when it comes
to this thread....

Nah, don't listen to me, I'm just a grumpy old bastard and
when I say fuck, I really mean heck. But I hate Shawshank so
much!!! God forgive me.

I thought that ''they have a story, but the main story is
secondary in the film...'' describes a movie that has a
story only for the sake of it and its true value is the
atmosphere or the clever exposition of relationships. Not
that the main plot occurs to be less important than the
sub-plot when you see the big picture.

Lost in Translation fits my version better I think

Another suggestion: "Twentynine Palms", the newer one.

I think Rushmore has a great story, integral to the movie. I
feel the same about The Royal Tenenbaums also.

whoah! even more!

I seen all of kubricks' and also fellinis. They're fucking
great! that goes for kurosawa's flicks too!

the shawshank redemption isn't exactly what I meant, but
it's a great movie!

I've been wanting to see tetsuo - iron man for a while...
it's on 99,99 in the store...

almost bought eraserhead once, but I opted for the movie I
hadn't heard anything about that also looked like it was
awesomely bad (it was)!

I'll check all the rest.

I think you should have articulated your criteria more
clearly at the outset. Some of the films being sugggested
are worlds away from the slow character-driven dissections
of LiT, tLA, tRT etc.

hmm.. quite possible, but most of them are quite probably
good movies, though... I couldn't stand JUST watching the
same type of movie all the time either.. I'm just making a
mental list of movies that I'll buy if they're cheap or
available or something... of course, I'm checking trailers
and stuff on them too, to make sure I'm not "buying the cat
in the bag," as the proverb goes.

I would never try to make you watch only one type of
movie - I just thought that's what this thread was about.
But yeah, all of the movies people have suggested are good.
So get yourself to the video store, post haste!

hahaha! I like how you say "I would never try to make you
watch only one type of movie
" and make it seem like
that's exactly what you're trying to do, you're just
covering it up or something... hahaha!
